If you’re a fish and chip aficionado seeking a true taste of the seaside, look no further than East Beach Fish & Chips. This unassuming gem is a local favorite in Port Fairy, VICE
The star of the show is undoubtedly the fish. Battered to perfection, it arrives crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chips, golden and fluffy, are the ideal accompaniment. The portions are generous, ensuring you’ll leave satisfied.
While the fish and chips are the main attraction, East Beach Fish & Chips also offers a variety of other seafood delights, including grilled calamari, prawns to name a few.
We had lunch and dinner here, for lunch we had the Blue Grenadier and whiting with chips.
Dinner we had hamburgers with the lot and the most delicious potato cakes I’ve had in a while.
Very quick service add to the overall dining experience. Whether you dine in or take away, East Beach Fish & Chips is a reliable choice for a delicious, affordable meal.
Thanks to the Big Fella who served us with a smile both times. Keep smiling because we will be back next visit to Port Fairy.

This place sells the best potato cakes I have ever eaten in my life. The fish was tasty and the crab sticks. If Steve Irwin was still alive he would eat here. I can’t wait to tell my uncle Paul Hogan about this place….”that’s not a potato cake…This is a potato cake…..I can’t overstate how good these potato cakes were. Thanks for bonza tucker aye
Best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. Had the Blue Grenadier, scallops and a handful of chips. Everything cooked to perfection and the batter was so light and tasty. Such a gem of a place. Do yourself a favour and get yourself some tasty tucker!
We always seem to eat mid afternoon …not lunch time and not dinner
We thought maybe fish and chips would be great near the sea
We hoped so anyway
Driving around yesterday we saw this place …might as well give it a try
Well we were by NO means disappointed
Noticing grilled squid on the menu we just had to try
Butterfish Barramundi Dim sims and chips were also on the order along with a late order gourmet potato cake …hmmm
A short wait and we sat down at the outside tables though we needn’t worry with the inclement weather as they were undercover
Opening the package we were delighted with the crisp n crunchy hot chips and the amazing crisp bubbly secret recipe batter on the fish
The grilled squid was for me a no go with an allergy to chilli that was well liked anyway
Kindly I received something extra …a piece of battered squid as I couldn’t eat the marinated one …to my delight it was sooo soooo delicious
Both fish and all items were cooked to perfection
Now the only issue is this place is no where near home but will be a definite go to whenever we are in the area
Thank you for such a wonderful takeaway meal
Don’t go past this place …go in this place and you will not be disappointed with what you choose to order
The fish and chips has the lowest price we ever had during our trip in Australia. Yummylisious. Fish are super fresh and crispy on the outside. Thank you so much. We had an awesome brunch facing the ocean. 🩷🤍
We bought battered flake, scallops, potato cakes and chips. The batter was excellent, but the fish was so terrible! Dry, overcooked and tough. I couldn’t believe it could be so bad, when we were told it was fresh and locally caught. The service was very good, polite nice people. But we would never get fish there again.
The young bloke that took our order was super friendly and polite.
Ordered flake nuggets and chips, the chips and nuggets were just okay on the same level as maccas soggy and full of old oil but the flake was the worst part definitely wasn’t flake as it turned to mush while eating it no flavour at all tasted like box fish from the supermarket and very thin slices, the batter was nice tho. All in all won’t be returning only reason why we went here is cause old mate down the road was closed. The owner really needs to pick up his standards and put some love into his food!
Absolutely the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and the batter was light, crispy and not greasy at all. The chips were golden and fluffy inside – just how they should be.
The scallops were a standout as well — tender, sweet and beautifully fried. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care put into the cooking.
Friendly service, relaxed beachside vibe, and generous portions. It’s one of those classic local gems that you’re so glad you found.
If you’re in Port Fairy, do yourself a favour and stop by — you won’t be disappointed!
