About
Yarra Avenue Seafood & Grill has built a strong reputation in Reservoir as one of the area’s most reliable fish and chip shops, drawing regulars from across Melbourne’s northern suburbs. The menu covers the classics with flake, potato cakes, steamed and fried dim sims, and a solid serve of chips, alongside burgers and souvlaki that earn just as much praise as the seafood. Fresh oil and consistently fresh ingredients come up time and again as reasons people keep coming back.
The shop is halal-certified and family-friendly, with a kids’ menu, a salad bar, and vegetarian options rounding out the offer. Dine-in, takeaway, and delivery are all available, making it a practical choice for groups and solo diners alike. Wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance, and seating are provided, and NFC mobile payments are accepted. Service is known for being fast, with orders often ready on arrival for those who phone ahead.
The burgers, particularly the schnitzel burger and steak sandwich, attract diners willing to travel from suburbs well beyond Reservoir. That kind of word-of-mouth speaks to a kitchen that takes care with what it sends out. The venue does get busy during peak hours, so ordering ahead during the dinner service is a smart move.
Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday. Check hours below before visiting, as the shop is closed Mondays.

visited few times. friendly staff, good price, good customer service, good crispy chips and the portion of minium chips is massive. even my friend who is tall and big couldn’t finish(ate some next day). they accept all major credit cards. it can be really busy and long wait. also parking can be a bit hard at times. overall, it was really good!
The food, in parricular the burgers are better at Yarra Avenue Seafood and Grill. Its worth the travel from Epping! Can’t go wrong when this small family working with passion and years of experience is testimony to the success of their business!!
My wife and I come here quite often now. This is our go to for a quick and cheap takeaway meal. One the last decent local fish and chip shops with good prices and fast service. Usually get the schnitzel burger or a steak sandwich both quite good. Quality takeaway for 2 under $30 is hard to find now.
This place is always soooo busy and for good reason. It’s just the best casual fish n chips place I’ve honestly ever been to. Everything is always so fresh with clean oil, the customer service is great and you always end your meal with a smile. I absolutely recommend this place. If you’re sitting on the fence about giving it a go please go and try for yourself 😍🐙
First time I’m been here having lost faith and patience in the new owners of coburg hill fish and chips despite the latter being only 50 metres from my doorstop. Loads of easy parking right out front. Food was ready upon arrival in line with the webapp-advised schedule. Very friendly staff, including the lady (one Reviewer perhaps caught her on a bad day, we all have them to be fair). The three different types of gourmet burgers we had were bang on. Right size and great taste. Souva was good. Chips were fantastic, traditional chippy chips, different to the ‘same same supplier/cooking method’ chips you get at most other chip shops. Mini potato cakes are smaller than expected but match the name so can’t grumble – they were cooked well though. We’ll probably buy the 10 pack next time because the individual price is probably a bit hard to justify regardless of how good they taste. Overall we were happy, our kids were happy, so I think a 15 minute drive is well worth it.
EDIT: The owner reached out via phone today, apologised for the error and rectified it. We will definitely be coming back here every time we have Fish & Chips from now on. The service has been second to none.
Fish & Chips from Yarra Ave used to be a weekly ritual in our household until the old owner sold up years ago and the food went downhill really quickly. We decided to give it another try recently and were pleasantly surprised at the improvement of the food.
I was craving fish & chips tonight after a long day so we decided to phone through an order. We repeated our order twice on the phone and the girl taking the order then repeated it back to us to make sure it was correct, which it was. When we got to the shop to pick up the order, the staff member repeated our order again, as it was rung up on the register for us to pay. Once again, the order was repeated correctly. We got home ready to tuck in and found that we had only been given 2x fish nuggets, despite ordering and paying for 2 of the 5x fish nuggets (10 total). Tried to call the shop as soon as we realised however the phone went unanswered.
Ordered the wrong thing online by mistake, but the staff were super nice about it and made me a new one without any hassle. Really appreciated how chill and helpful they were. Food was great as always! 😊
First time getting take away from this shop on Friday. They were so busy and for a great reason, fish and chips were absolutely beautiful! It was prepared quick and was still steaming hot by the time I brought it home to have. Have tried many fish and chips shops around the area but can finally settle on this being my go to. Potato cakes were fantastic
