About
Rosebud Seafoods is a casual takeaway spot serving the Rosebud community on the Mornington Peninsula, with a menu that covers the classic fish and chips lineup alongside a few extras. The shop is popular for lunch and dinner runs, and with a kids’ menu on offer it draws plenty of families looking for a straightforward, affordable meal.
The menu includes flake and souvlaki, and regulars also rate the chicken schnitzel burger highly, often praising the generous portion size. Chips get a reasonable wrap from most visitors, and the pricing is considered fair for the area. Service is noted as quick and friendly on consistent visits.
Feedback across a large number of reviews is mixed. The grilled fish has drawn some criticism, with occasional reports of thin portions and dry texture, so the battered options may be the safer choice for first-timers. Value for money comes up regularly as a positive, and the convenient parking, both street and off-street, makes it easy to pop in.
Rosebud Seafoods accepts credit cards, debit cards, and tap-to-pay, and the accessible car park and entrance mean it works well for visitors of all mobility levels. A handy takeaway option for families exploring the Rosebud area. Phone ahead during busy dinner periods to avoid a wait.

Unfortunately there is no zero star to give. We ordered grilled fish, chips and chicken souvlaki. Everything was soaked in oil, instead grilled the fish was fried, also soaked in oil. My worst Fish and chips experience.
To their credit, the hamburger was nice and they refunded us the full amount when we returned the food back to them.
Always a great feed! The chicken schnitzel burger is my go-to! Huge portion. The food is always consistent, very reasonably priced, and the service is quick and friendly. Highly recommend!
1st time eating here and unfortunately the quality was not great. The chips were very dry and I am unsure if they made it fresh or not. The flake was very thin and it did not feel very fresh. The only positive is the value for money! All this for $15 was great value. I very rarely share a negative review so I am hopeful the restaurant can improve in the future.
We bought fish and chips here about 10 months ago and absolutely loved it. At the time, the shop was busy, with a long line of customers, and the food was delicious.
Unfortunately, our experience today was completely different. The shop was empty. After spending $60 on a family pack, it was clear from the first bite of a chip that something wasn’t right — they tasted stale. The potato cakes were overcooked and so thin there was barely any potato left, with an unappealing dark brown colour and odour. The fish had a strong, fishy taste and didn’t seem fresh either.
None of the food was enjoyable and I struggled to eat it. it was extremely disappointing, especially given our previous positive experience. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it now – save your money and go elsewhere for fish and chips.
Disappointed. We had 3 pieces of grilled flake that were very small, thin, dry and tough. Likely overcooked and definitely not worth the $10.80 each. Chips were good, though.
Absolutely disgusting. Food was cold, soggy, greasy, and tasted old. Fish was rubbery, chips were limp, and everything went straight in the bin. For a seafood shop, this is embarrassing. Complete waste of money — do yourself a favour and go literally anywhere else.
Normally get the lunch pack- Ok value. Normally good on a week day
Tonight – The Flake was half the size than normal. Was more like a whiting or flat head strip. Was a joke
Calamari was dry
Small chips was a joke – Barely a handful
$70 will never return
Overpriced and poor quality
Highly recommend trying elsewhere
1 star for the friendly customer service. If not this place would be 0 stars. Ordered a fish by this is what is advertised and this is what I got, thought this was some kind of joke when I called they said there fish bites are the size of a 50 cent coin, I’m sorry what? Every other fish and chips are the size of half a flake atleast. The potato cakes and the flakes were absolutely disgusting, and the chips were undercooked. Pretty much went in the bin what a waste of $40!!
