About
Blue Fin Fish & Chips sits on the Sunbury dining scene as something a little different from a standard takeaway shop. Alongside the classic fish and chips, the venue incorporates a convenience store, so locals can pick up snacks, beverages, and a few extra bits while they wait for their order. It’s a practical combination that makes the stop worthwhile even on busy days.
The shop has clearly undergone a significant renovation under its current management, and the result is a noticeably cleaner, brighter space that regulars have remarked upon. Flake, potato cakes, dim sims, and chips are all confirmed on the menu, and the chip serves are known to be generous. The batter and portions draw genuine praise, and the staff are regarded as welcoming and attentive. The space has a casual, relaxed feel that suits families well, and a kids’ menu is available for younger diners.
This Sunbury fish and chip shop handles both takeaway and delivery, making it a convenient option for those who’d rather eat at home. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance are both available, and the shop accepts card and NFC mobile payments. Open for lunch and dinner, it covers the main meal windows without fuss.
Worth a visit for anyone in the Sunbury area looking for a solid, well-run local chippy.

8 Reviews on “BLUE FIN Fish & chips and Convenience Store”
The establishment had been renovated under new management, and they offer dine-in and takeaways. I was surprised by the interiors, which were much cleaner than previously. They sell crepes, snacks, beverages, fish and chips, and even shisha 🤩
Come and stop by or even order online to help the business. The crepes are tasty.
Haven’t been in the area for around 5 months, came back today and was in shock because they have completely renovated the shop! It looks so much better than what it looked like before, definitely needed that lift.
Some of the staff are still there which is lovely to see, and the new owner seemed lovely and was welcoming.
The store has a wide variety of home goods and lots of lollies and sweets, so that’s good if I can’t be bothered going down to coles😂, I reckon one aisle has to go though so we can walk freely.
The family absolutely loved the fish and chips, pretty sure they have changed the recipe or quality.
Definitely going to be my go to quick convenience shop & my Wednesday fish n chips dinner.
Thanks guys, we needed this lift!
The old Strathern Glen store needed a much needed upgrade, both inside and out…the new owners have done a great job sprucing the place up.
I visited for Blue Fin for the 2nd time yesterday, since it has changed hands. Like others, I wasn’t impressed the first time with their potato cakes, but it seems they have listened to their customers and changed suppliers. Overall with what I ordered I was satisfied.
As for being a convenience store, there appears to be only 2 actual rows of shelving with items you may need, the rest is full of crap (chips, lollies & chocolate.)
It’s that crammed inside, there is not enough room to swing a cat. Maybe remove a row of shelving, so you can actually walk down the aisles. Can’t see them selling too much of the Lego products they have there.
Then there is all the drug paraphernalia. I thought it was illegal to sell/display ice pipes, yet the new owners have them on display. Plastic zip lock bags (deal bags), hemp products, and other stuff I don’t think is appropriate to be selling at a local general store.
Had the best food in a while. I haven’t been eating fish and chips lately but when i tried this place, i would definitely be eating it there every time from now on.
The service is great as well, Nidal is so welcoming and friendly.
Would definitely recommend it.
Ordered Flake , potato cakes , dim sims and chips and it was all really good and pretty generous sized fish and more chips than i had thought .Plus the store is spotlessly clean and staff seem pleasant enough . I understand some ppl getting wrong orders might be a bit annoyed but give these blokes a chance , they are learning as they go and when it gets busy it probably flusters them a bit … in time they will get up to speed and it’ll be fine i’m sure . Anyways , I’ll definitely be going back for more .
They do need to remove an aisle though , too cramped and too much stock that i am betting will not easily sell . Good luck to them for the future .
A month later from original review and it is actually getting even better …. cant fault the service and the food i have had is really good , I mentioned to owner that the potato cakes were ok but not great and he told me they had recently gone with a home made potato cake so i tried them again and geez what a huge difference , they are now back on my order list.
i reckon this is now Sunburys best fish and chips …
I brought a vegie burger which had lettuce tomato and pineapple the only fish and chip i have ever been to that doesn’t actually have ‘a vegie patty’ in it. 1 star is being generous…
Google says they close at 10pm, go past at 8:55 and they were well and truly closed and this was apparently updated times from a week ago.
Their hours online are for the store itself but Fish N Chips stop earlier.
Might want to actually advertise that
Not all that.
A lot of these positive reviews are obviously written by friends, family or the owners to increase the hype. Look at the names, the comments and the pics, it’s not hard to work out.
Hot food especially the fish extremely average. Chips occasionally good but so hit and miss.
Shop way too cramped.
Honestly if the owners just go learn how to cook consistently good takeaway this place would be so much busier! Such a shame. Every time we drive by it’s dead. If these reviews were real this just wouldn’t be the case. Word has spread it’s not all that. It’s a shame, they have obviously invested some love into the previous shop but it’s just not delivering the basics. People really want to be able to pop into a local for decent takeaway when life gets busy or for a treat. Sad that in Sunbury Red Rooster and McDonald’s are better than places like this. There is a captive market in Sunbury with the restaurants mostly being of a very poor standard.
