I’ve always been a fan of Hunky Dory’s since my first one opened locally. This one does not disappoint. 4.5 stars.
Customer service was top notch. The food was high quality and I requested it be cooked crispy. They delivered it just the way I like it.
The Mediterranean grilled seafood and salad pack was the highlight. Everyone loved the grilled fish. The giant “Coupled up” fried pack was gigantic and really filled us up.
The only thing was the Fri pack looked a bit sparse presentation wise. Probably would have looked more full on a bed of chips. And the fish offered as part of the meals were on the cheaper side- basa and hake. For $34 for the coupled up, would have expected flake as standard.
Also, the batter wasn’t as light as other HDs. But was still enjoyable. Just didn’t have the usual light crunch.
But apart from that and meal fish selections, Thank you HD!
All-time favorite fish and chips place. Fish are always fresh, generous portion. Spacious restaurant- good for gathering.
Tried the Hunky Bowl for the first time today – veg were fresh and grilled fish was delicious.

Actually, we love this place; especially this branch. When we come here for shopping, it’s a great lunch option. The grilled calamari is amazing, and their salads are really, really good and well-balanced. You could come here just for the salads!

Bought out my friends food after 5 minutes of ordering, my other friends after 30 minutes of ordering, and my barramundi after 45 minutes of ordering. I had to go ask them if it was still coming. None of us got to eat together. Everyone was done by the time the other persons food came and just waiting on one another. I literally just got a salad and piece of barramundi and to eat that collectively took 45mins. I can understand mistakes but be a bit more apologetic than “sorry about that”.
The food was great, but I ordered tomato sauce through the table QR code which cost $1.50, but after I realised they had free bottles of ketchup available. Went I commented on this to the front of staff, she just said “oh unlucky!” Thanks for scamming me in this economy. 😭
Staff have anxiety here if they think you’re going to hold them up 1 minute from closing time. Not Customer Centric at all, just silly girls dying to get home, it’s so obvious in their body language. Fish is overpriced, ordered 3 grilled flake however portions only amounted to 2 thin pieces. Won’t be returning.
Terrible thick, bland and seriously hard battered crab stick.
Not even the table knife could cut through it.
The batter also had an old taste to it. Like off.
Felt very sick after eating at this so called fish & chip shop. No sauvlakis here. Strange place.
Plenty of cooks & waitresses yet service & food need improving.
Workers talk more to eachother than focus on the food & customer service.

I ordered chicken salt for the chips & yet white table salt was applied.
No one seems to care here, nor smile. Unwelcoming & terrible old batter served here.
