About
Tooradin Original Fish & Chip Shop is a casual dine-in and takeaway spot serving the Tooradin community and visitors passing through the region. The shop caters to families with a kids’ menu on offer, and the relaxed, no-reservations setup makes it easy to drop in for lunch or dinner without any fuss. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance are available, and free parking is close by.
The menu covers classic fish and chip shop fare, with potato cakes and dim sims among the regulars. The shop is known for cooking to order, which means a short wait is common, particularly on weekends. Regulars note the food comes out consistently, without the heavy grease that can let other shops down. Staff are praised for being helpful and accommodating over the phone, and the kitchen has a solid reputation for flexibility around gluten-free requests, reportedly able to adapt most menu items on request.
With decent reviews across a solid volume of feedback, the shop has found a loyal following among locals and tourists exploring the area around Tooradin. It is not table service, so orders are placed and collected at the counter. For anyone making the trip out to this part of Victoria, it is a straightforward, reliable option for a classic feed.
Phone ahead for larger orders, especially on busy weekend evenings.

There is nothing especially wrong with this place. 4 stars for food because it was a bit over salted and the chips and potato cakes were pretty standard, nothing to write home about.
No reason we won’t be back again.
Disappointed! We read reviews online. Drove from Grantville for Fish n Chips. Flake was NOT fresh & even questioned if it was in fact Flake. The batter was so hard & thick. Bad taste & wasted money. The potato cakes were good. Chips were okay. Young staff member served me. She was prompt & efficient.
Chips were nice golden brown with bbq burger ok . Nice to eat near the water with toilets near by.
I can see why this has only 3 stars. Ordered a fish souv – $15 $$. Told 20 min wait. Was 30 with no apology or even “thanks for waiting”. Was very plain, the wrap was crunchy and hard to eat. The staff all looked younger than 18.
Zero stars absolutely atrocious behaviour from the owner when i have stated i was ripped off for a serving of chips.. asked for a minimum and regived a child’s serve … spend $60 worth of food thinking it will feed the family of 4 and is lucky to even feed a small child and adult ..purely disgusting way to be treated
Crisp, crunchy gluten free chips, 2 potato cakes and 2 fried dim sims. Asked for a GF menu and was told they can make a GF version of “pretty much everything”.
Order (as above) took 22 mins with one order ahead of us on a weekend.
My favorite thing about this restaurant, besides the delicious food (Apologies we forgot to take the picture because we’re so hungry!), is the incredibly helpful staff over the phone. We ordered 10 minutes early because we were so hungry, and when we arrived, we were able to pick up our food and enjoy it right away! So delicious! Love their fish and chips!
If you’re looking for consistently great fish and chips, I highly recommend Tooradin Original Fish & Chips. The food is always amazing and cooked perfectly every time. One thing I really appreciate is that it’s never greasy – everything comes out fresh, crisp, and full of flavour.
The fish is beautifully cooked with a light, crunchy batter, and the chips are always spot on. It’s clear they take pride in what they do. Friendly service and great quality make it an easy go-to whenever we’re craving fish and chips.
Definitely one of the best local spots around! 🐟🍟
