About
Yea Amble Inn is a casual takeaway and dine-in spot serving the Yea community with fish and chips, pizza, souvlaki, and burgers. Outdoor seating and a kids’ menu make it a practical stop for families passing through or locals wanting a relaxed meal without fuss.
The souvlaki is the signature dish here, and the menu stretches well beyond the fryer. Pizzas draw consistent praise, with the crusts noted as a particular highlight. The chicken schnitzel burger has also caught attention for solid value at a reasonable price point, with a generous crumb and a serve that doesn’t skimp. The team running the shop is known for friendly, energetic service and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back.
Reviews are mixed in places, with some patrons reporting inconsistency in the fish and chips side of the menu. That said, the shop holds a well-rated reputation on balance, and many locals visit regularly. Visitors stopping in Yea on the way through the region have found it a reliable option for lunch or dinner.
The Amble Inn is open for lunch and dinner and caters to both dine-in and takeaway. Phone ahead during busy periods to keep wait times short.

The lads were stoked on their post-snow trip meals. A few pizzas and a snitty-wrap were on the cards for us and this place delivered. The crusts in the pizza are mouth watering and friendly service
The young couple running the fish and chip is very friendly and energetic. Pleasant to chat to, alway with a nice big smile. The fish are fresh and flavorful
We recently stayed in Yea and had the pleasure of ordering pizza from this wonderful place. As residents of Melbourne, we’re no strangers to great food, and this spot did not disappoint. We tried the vegetarian and margarita pizzas, both bursting with flavor and made with delicious, perfectly cooked dough. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tasty meal in Yea!
Stopped in Yea for lunch and found the Amble Inn.
Had the chicken schnitzel burger and for $14.50 I think very good value. The snitty was a bit larger than the burger which is always good! The crumb on the snitty is very tasty.
Next time I’m down this way, I’ll stop in again.
Thank you !
So organised and efficient. Such and easy transaction and fish and chips were really good. No hesitation in going back one day. We ordered on Good Friday and despite being super busy, they were efficient and our order was 100% correct.
Very disappointing experience.
Me and my friend recently visited Yea Amble Inn for brunch and unfortunately, it was a letdown from the start. I ordered a fish and chips basket, but the fish was extremely smelly and clearly undercooked — it didn’t taste fresh at all. The chips were also not properly cooked, soggy and pale, with no crispiness.
We were expecting a good meal, but the quality was well below standard. Honestly, it didn’t even feel safe to eat. The staff didn’t seem very attentive either, and there was no effort to check if the food was okay.
Very disappointed overall. Would not recommend this place if you’re expecting proper fish and chips. Needs major improvement in both food quality
Best souvlaki anywhere !! Delicious light toasted wrap, order options including beetroot !!!
Friendly efficient and clean
Always One of the main highlights of our Buller/stirling trios !!
Only good spot for takeaway in town. Food is always good (we live local- not just a blow in) staff are always lovely. If we don’t feel like the pub this is where we go for our fortnightly takeaway.
