About
The Market Place Fish & Chips is a family-friendly fish and chip shop serving the Ballajura community, with takeaway, kerbside pickup, and delivery all on offer. Free parking and wheelchair accessibility make it a practical stop for a wide range of diners.
The menu centres on the classic fish and chips, priced at around $13, and regulars also speak highly of the potato scallops and banana fritters. Dim sims feature too, rounding out the kind of traditional lineup you’d expect from a solid suburban chippy. The fish is praised for coming out crispy and fresh, and on busy periods like Good Friday the team keeps orders moving, with phone-ahead orders ready in roughly 40 minutes.
Feedback is broadly positive, with many locals returning regularly and rating the taste and seasoning well. Some reviews note that batter consistency can vary and that the chips lean toward standard off-cut portions, so the experience may differ slightly from visit to visit. That said, a well over four-star reputation across dozens of reviews suggests most people leave satisfied.
With delivery available and a kids’ menu suited to families, The Market Place Fish & Chips in Ballajura covers the bases for a casual weeknight dinner or a weekend treat. Phone ahead during busy periods to keep wait times down.

This is my fave fish and chips place, my partner and I have been here multiple times. The chips and the potato scallops are so unbelievably good, the fish is crispy and perfect everytime. My personal favourites are the banana fritters and the pineapple fritters (they fold the fritters in a separate paper, which is really considerate). We’ve tried other fish and chip places but we keep on coming back to this one 💕 customer for life!!
Edit 11/01/22 I came back for their fish and chips. We don’t live as close but we always come back here, it’s so delicious. I love the banana and pineapple fritters 💖 love the chips and the fish, wonderful customer service
Edit 26/01/22 I came back for their fish and chips once again. It was a delightful surprise when I found out they were working on a public holiday day. (Wow we are so lucky to have delicious fish and chips on a PH day, they are so hard working!) I’m not sure what was different but it tasted even better even though I’m not sure how that happened. We tried their nuggets and chicken wings. My favourite were once again their banana and pineapple fritters 💕
Fish and chips on Good Friday so was VERY busy. 5 people working and they were still flat out. We phoned ahead and ordered and food was ready about 40 minutes later. Tasty, fresh, nicely salted. Our family had a mix of fish, dim Sims and crumbed plain beef sausage.
We’ve also have been going here for years and it used to be a great place. However, last nights serving was the worst fish and chips we have experienced – and yes they are new owners.
We got a full family pack and a half family pack with extras – about $98 worth. All the items were overcooked, very small pieces of fish (1/2 sized) and really not a good experience.
I am giving this feedback so hopefully the owner will read it and improve.
So disappointing. This used to be so good. We have been going here for over 10 years. Then in the past month (new owners?) we have been here twice. Both times on a Friday. Both times we tried to call to place an order but nobody answered the phone. So we actually went there to order and wait. Both times we were told by the schoolboy he was really busy, even though we were the only ones in the shop. This schoolboy (still in uniform) was there by himself. There used to be at least 3 people serving and cooking before.
Both times the food was very disappointing. Squid was soggy and small. The grilled fish, which used to be delicious is now oilier than battered fish and coated in a …floury paste?
After over a decade of patronage, we will be looking for somewhere else to go for our fish and chips.
Not too bad. Batter for fish could be better consistency. But tasty treat for $13. Chips were stock standard medium to small off cuts. I think thats prob typical for some places these days. Pretty empty for wed night.
Been going to Market Place Fish @Chips for Years. We had Fish @Chips there last night. Very Nice and Tasty. Will be back…
This shop has lost all its soul. Wish I knew it had new owners! No idea if salt is completely forgotten in any part of the process. Food is cooked within an inch of its life. NEVER coming back. Really sad how far this shop has fallen 😥
Very disappointing, gone down hill this last year. Fish was cold and put loads of chicken salt on without asking. Put cold chips on the paper then added freshly cooked chips on top so not great at all ☹️
