About
WestnFresh Seafood has built a solid reputation in Cockburn Central as a fish and chip shop that takes the quality of its fish seriously. The pink snapper and chips is the signature dish, and it draws regulars back time and again. Red spotted emperor also features on the menu, and the kitchen cooks fish to order rather than holding it under a heat lamp. The oil is changed frequently, which makes a real difference to the flavour and finish of each piece.
Prices sit a little higher than the average suburban shop, but most who visit find the quality justifies the cost. The fish itself is the drawcard here, consistently described as fresh, moist, and not overly fishy in the way that lesser-quality product can be. Chips receive more mixed feedback, with some servings occasionally falling short of the crispness the fish delivers. It is worth noting that certain menu items, such as potato scallops, are not always available.
The shop offers both dine-in and takeaway, with free parking on site making it an easy stop in the Cockburn Central area. Staff are attentive and known to double-check orders before handing them over, which is a small but appreciated touch. For anyone searching for fish and chips in Perth’s southern suburbs, WestnFresh offers a genuinely quality-focused option in a convenient location.

Honestly did not find it too expensive for the items we got, which was a surprise as we were expecting to pay alot more from the reviews we were seeing. Staff was very nice by double checking our order making sure they were getting it right, and the quality was great as well!
I think the only thing I wish was better is the sausage. I don’t know if it’s the oil or the actual sausage itself, but it tasted a bit sandy, not like your average cheese sausage. But the seafood was good and it is a seafood place, so they deserve 5 stars for the seafood 😊 Will come back again.
The prices were great, selection of fish superb, delivery (through uber eats) fast & delivered hot, everything was delicious, nothing overcooked, the onion rings were MASSIVE.
The biggest downside was the amount of batter. Almost everything was caked in batter so thick. You could barely taste the food for the batter – though for the fish it was perfect (not too thick).
Went for a casual lunch, and I was shocked by the high level quality of the fish and chips. For $18 this may just be the best value Fish & Chips in Perth.
At 6,1’ I eat big meals (usually a main and side anywhere) but I couldn’t finish a standard fish and chips!
The fish was perfectly fresh and full of taste, which makes sense given it’s a fish market. I Even the fry oil you could tell was kept fresh which is not common with Fish & Chip shops.
If you want something for latter, grab a frozen chowder out of the freezer on your way out.
5/5 I will drive out of my way to go here again anytime.
I just ate the best fish I ever had! Their fish of the day was Leather jacket today and it was either the way they make or it was the fish itself, it was very soft and moist. Didn’t taste fishy at all and was just awesome! I will definitely come back and can only recommend to try this one!
This is my local fish and chip establishment, I’ve been coming here for 4 years.
Regularly enjoy the fish, especially pink snapper. Today’s fish was superb, tasty and fresh.
Disappointing that they have no potato scallops again. I would have thought these would be simple to stock.
Other small concerns are that the chips can be undercooked and anaemic. Would prefer them crispier.
Very disappointed with the squid tentacle and squid rings.
Both of them were very greasy but the squid tentacles were especially greasy.
They used to be really lovely with very thin coating of batter instead of the thick batter.
Don’t know how many times the store changed hands, but this time around I’d stay away from the squids at least.
Had been going here for years with the best and freshest of fish. New owners, fish bans in WA and the fish is now absolute rubbish. Stinks, we just fed 2 kg of expensive fish (Rankin Cod and “Pink Snspper”) to the chickens. Will never buy fish from there again! What a waste of money!
👎👎old batter need to change the oil more often felt sick stripped all batter off tasted the fish but already ruin by batter, $41 dollars down the drain, These fellas wouldn’t even know how to do toast
