About
The Slippery Eel is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Ellenbrook, WA, offering both dine-in and takeaway in a relaxed, casual setting. The shop is particularly popular for dinner, and a short wait at the counter is par for the course on a busy evening, so phoning ahead with your order is a smart move.
The fish and chips are the main draw, and regulars consistently praise the batter: light, crispy, and applied with a generous hand. The kiwi battered sav has earned something of a following, drawing people in specifically for that slightly different take on a classic battered sausage. Fried pineapple is another crowd-pleaser on the menu, and burgers round out the options nicely for anyone who wants something a little different from the standard fish-and-chips format.
The venue is family-friendly with a kids’ menu available, wheelchair accessible, and has free parking on site. Staff members Paul and Maria are mentioned regularly by name, which says something about the kind of warm, familiar service the place delivers. Card and mobile payments are accepted, though reservations are not taken.
For those living in or passing through Ellenbrook, The Slippery Eel holds a solid reputation and draws a loyal crowd. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep your wait to a minimum.

Yesterday I ordered grilled snapper. Crab sticks and chips for am evening meal. The snapper had no taste and was over cooked. Same with the crab stick . The mushy peas were like they had been poured from a tin of ready made mushy peas and the chips tasted like they were re heated 3 day old chips. Will never use this shop again .
Many people will like this place, not for us. Fish bites were great, battered beef sausage can take or leave, if I order battered sausage it needs a proper dip in batter. Chips feel like cook from frozen and you could get in any pub etc. again some people will love them.
Like the fact they have mushy peas and pickled onions, very surprised to see battered mars on menu.
My biggest thing with most chippies over here is if I order fish and chips for 2/3/4 whatever that’s what I want decent portion chips and fish wrapped in a portion, not $3 chips and everything wrapped together.
Overall not bad but portion was small, mushy peas a bit watery. Fish bites pretty good and $4 chips that looked like an British kids portion (that’s what they Reccomended for 4 of us)
Great fish and chips very good service from the lovely couple who I talked too.
Love their batter!!! Flaky, crispy goodness. Best tasting fish and chips. Can’t go past their fried pineapple either 💖
Make sure to always place an order over the phone ✨
they said they were open on Christmas Eve-spoiler alert! they weren’t open. looked on the ellenbrook central website and it said it was open every day, but it wasn’t open. if you want to be closed on Christmas eve, then at least SAY online that you WILL NOT be open! its common logic, honestly.
That was the best fish and chips and kiwi battererd savs I’ve had in years fresh and cooked to perfection and a great price
Have always been perfect. Great value and found the serving size to be just right. Highly recommend
Great staff at Slipper Eel and even better fish and chips
Thanks team
