About
Kim’s Fish & Chips is a casual neighbourhood fish and chip shop in Hamilton Hill, Western Australia, offering dine-in, takeaway, and delivery for locals who want a straightforward, no-fuss feed. The menu covers the classics: fish and chips, potato scallops with chicken salt, dim sims, crab sticks, and a pineapple fritter for something a little different.
Reviews paint a mixed picture. On good visits, the snapper arrives fresh and well-battered, chips come out golden and fluffy inside without being soggy or overdone, and the potato scallops and pineapple fritter hit the mark. Regulars who know what to expect from a simple suburban chippy tend to leave satisfied.
The shop is family friendly with a kids’ menu, and the venue is wheelchair accessible with an accessible car park and entrance. Free parking is available both on-site and on the street, and the shop accepts credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. Dine-in seats are available, or orders can be placed for takeaway or delivery.
Open for dinner Wednesday through Tuesday from 4:30pm. Phone ahead during peak dinner hours.

Awful. Firstly they overcharged us, the fish was old, mushy & smelly (& red emperor is not a cheap cut), it was a thin piece with thick floury batter, we couldn’t eat it. We asked for lightly cooked chips, they were on the verge of being burned. They couldn’t tell us what kind of snapper they have. They didn’t put vinegar on. The squid rings & prawn cutlets were all overcooked. Overall terrible. The owner of the shop in Spearwood is abusive to her staff. We will never buy from any Kim’s again. Would give a zero or negative rating if possible
Health department should close this shop Down. We ordered shark and it was violently off and tasted like mercury and ammonia … the squid rings were so small with a mass of hideous under cooked batter … the muscles were black and jelly under the thick batter. I asked for my $40 back and Kim the owner made me wait 50 minutes for her to arrive and then she called the police. I talked to police and they said Kim had told them that I was throwing food and trying to open the cash register! Which was a lye. All I wanted was to have fish and chips for dinner! I never got the refund and went hungry for the night.
I will be putting in a complaint to health department.
Hi everyone! Just a heads up to people who want to buy fish and chips here, I would label it a takeaway/last minute or very basic F&C place. Please don’t go here expecting five star restaurant quality. It is for the people who just want some basic local fish and chips. I was craving some F&C, and so I went to this place because I didn’t feel like driving 30min to a place with incredible ratings. I just wanted stock standard. This was that. It was tasty. Wasn’t off, or smelly or anything like that. The restaurant was visibly clean which is very important. The service wasn’t that good. The man who served me sounded fed up, which I absolutely understand as a customer service worker. And to be honest, I wasn’t going to this place for the customer service. But I would suggest to Kims F&C to try and put a smiling server on. It has an incredible impact on customers and their likelihood of coming back to the restaurant. You don’t need to be over the top, rainbows and butterflies, but continuous sighing and a complete lack of enthusiasm can make someone want to leave or ask for a refund. Again, the chips and fish were good. Especially the fish. It was crispy, cooked to perfection and tasted great! Is $15 a bit exxy, sure, but what isn’t nowadays.
Accessibility: parking around the restaurant is good. There’s is parking right out the front of the restaurant, however there is a ledge that isn’t accessible via wheelchair. However, around 10-20m from the restaurant is a ramp. It might actually be closer than that, I am just terrible as guessing measurements. There isn’t any loud music playing or flashing lights. The TV was also off when I went inside. It was a tad echoey.
Absolutely spot in.
Snapper was fresh, perfectly battered and cooked.
Chips just right. Not too soft not too crunchy.
Dim Sims, potato scallops and pineapple fritter just right.
Very happy family here. Well done!
This is the best fish and chips I’ve had! The batter is so crispy, the fish is perfectly flaky, and the chips are golden and fluffy inside :)
What a rip off.
I ordered crumbed fish and chips with 5 dollars worth of chips on the side.
24 dollars for a feed.
Nearly restaurant or pub prices for a feed.
Don’t bother.
Most of these fish and chips spots are overpriced garbage.
Extremely small portion of fish for the cost and the $5 chips was little more than a handful.
$45.00 for my partner and I all up and we barely had half a piece of fish between us.
Quality was low and we genuinely felt like we were interrupting the server when we ordered in an empty venue.
Not very welcoming.
Will absolutely never be going back
Monday evening 9.2.26 I experienced the worst service & food from Kim’s Fish & Chips in Hamilton Hill.
Dare I say “miserable millennials” who serve with no energy, a grumpy attitude because the world owes them something & no smile.
You are in a service industry, a connection with your customers is paramount, as you never know who walks into your store.
If I had an employee act like this person did in my business, they would be sacked.
This miserable human spoke to me like I was dirt & the resulting food was inedible.
No wonder the food tasted like trash because of the terrible attitude of this staff member.
The price was $27.00 for a Fisherman’s Basket & I won’t be returning. Remember that word of mouth is an essential part of owning a business & as I am a local I will express my dissatisfaction to everyone I know.
I hope you have a good discussion with your employees about the importance of good service.
One last thing to the person who was serving: “ before you rule, you must learn to serve”….
