First time visiting Saltys and I must say it was a great experience. The bloke at the main desk was great and made for a very easy interaction. Very friendly team at the back. Food was delicious, the prawns were 10/10, the saltys burger was the same. Probably one of the best burgers from a fish and chip shop (maybe even burger shop) such a classic burger but so well done 👍. The fish was also very good, great serving size. Thanks guys. We’ll be back for sure!
This is by far the best fish and chips I have ever had in my life. As an avid fan of this dish, believe me when I say I have tried many around the world and nothing hit quite like this one. Thank you Saltys for such a wonderful experience! The snapper was so thick I couldn’t believe it (I have never had such juicy and fresh fish before), and the chips were crunchy and perfectly seasoned. The squid was soft and delectable. I love the customisability of everything, especially with the vinegar, chicken salt, and even GF options. Everything stayed perfect and ridiculously crispy (but not oily) even after a 20 minute trip back home. We gobbled it all up, and the portion size was so generous we were absolutely stuffed full by the end of it. I only wish my stomach could handle more. Rob and his team were so friendly and amazing. Rob, I had a great time chatting with you and you made me feel such warmth despite the absolutely freezing weather. I think you and your team are doing fantastic work (which is certainly paying off) and your service is top tier. Thank you for looking out for me and throwing in the sauces, I really appreciate it! The curry was my favourite too. I would highly recommend anyone looking for the best traditional fish and chips in Freo to come by Saltys for delicious food and great service. I hope to be back again once more before I leave, but either way I would gladly travel back to the city next time to visit again. Keep up the incredible work!!!

The best fish and chips I’ve ever had! It was so good that my girlfriend, who was here on holiday for a week, and I had to get it twice in the same week haha! The batter was so light, not greasy at all, but still incredibly flavourful and tasty. Portion sizes are massive — such a great feed — and because it was cooked so well, it didn’t feel like a chore at all to finish all the food. On top of that, they were amazing enough to stay open past closing time for us to collect our order since we were slightly delayed, and even kept the food warm until we got there. Would highly recommend — definitely my go-to shop, even if it means travelling an hour back and forth for the food!
This is the best fish and chips in WA! I’m so glad I came across it. The fish is so good and the sauce it comes with is delicious. Also it’s so hard to find good quality gravy, the darker the better & after two years I finally found somewhere that has nailed it. If you are a chips and gravy enthusiast like me, this place won’t let you down

Second time coming in one week! The curry sauce is an absolute must (as is the tartare); sauces taste as if handmade and with such care to the ingredients. Prices very reasonable, and made even better by the excellent service given by staff showing us how to maximise our dollar with our ordering! Only tip I would give is to order on the phone to save you some time – they are super busy (as they should be!). Perfect serving sizes leaving you comfortably full with your salty cravings satisfied 🙂
Super friendly staff that were incredibly considerate and caring, and all the food was delicious. We got the snapper, chips and 3 sides and everything was amazing. Nothing was too greasy or dry and the portions were very generous. This will definitely be our go to from now on. 🙌🏻
