About
Oceanside Fish & Chips By Mbh is a fish and chip shop in Joondalup, Western Australia, offering dine-in, takeaway, and delivery across lunch and dinner service. The venue is family-friendly, with wheelchair-accessible facilities and free parking on site, making it a practical option for a range of diners.
The menu covers the staples expected from a suburban fish and chips shop, and a small number of visitors have found the food to their liking, with some praising the quality and helpful, knowledgeable service. The setting has drawn the occasional positive mention as well.
That said, the broader picture from recent visits is less consistent. Recurring concerns include chips arriving cold or under-salted, fish with overcooked batter, and wait times that have stretched to 40 or 50 minutes. Portion sizes relative to price have also attracted criticism, with some diners feeling the value does not match expectations. Order accuracy has occasionally been an issue too, with requests not always fulfilled as placed.
For anyone in the Joondalup area considering a visit, it may be worth phoning ahead to confirm current wait times, particularly during the dinner rush.

Food was amazing as always, just a tad weird as we ordered a small fish meal and 6 nuggets, the girl said we had a sauce that came with the meal and we debated but decided on an aioli. not only did she give us a ketchup she also charged us fir the aioli they were also like $2 each. reading back the order to customers would go a long way. regardless the aioli also was chunky and looked off… only reason we didnt go back was we had set up a picnic and would be hard to unpack and repack😅
Save your money and self respect. This fish and chips is an utter rip off the photo attaches was $27.00. To be fair there was a small coke with it. The fish looks big because the box is small.
Fish and chips were delicious. The girl that served us was very helpful in explaining things on the menu. It was a very tranquil area with a beautiful sunset. Grabbing your fish and chips and sitting on the grass to watch the sunset is highly recommended!
Wish I’d have checked the reviews before ordering. Unfortunately not a great experience and I don’t like leaving bad reviews. Requested chicken salt but came with normal salt (not the end of the world I know) the batter however was inedible, it was so oily. I removed it from everything we ordered (pineapple fritter and fish) only to discover the saddest, smallest bit of dry fish underneath. For a fish and chip shop in such a prime location I’d like to think they will review what they are doing 🤞🏼
This establishment was once one where myself and many friends have enjoyed large chip servings wrapped in exciting layers of greasy paper. it holds fond memories of adolescense and coming of age. Today a pair of us made a return to this place of memories and were deeply saddened by the portion serve of advertised “giant” chip serve. as we filled our gobs with chicken salt coated fries we felt a short spurt of we thought would be fulfilling joy and and contentment. in a few short lived minutes we reached for our next handful and were greeted with nothing but salt and cardboard. both left with rumbling tummies and a feeling of betrayal we sit in our new found melancholy and ponder on what will fill the emptiness we have been left with.
Placed an order to be picked up 30mins after opening. We were the 1st order of the day. Spent $140.
My order was crumbed snapper. None of the fish was snapper as ordered. Elderly Mum spat hers out after saying it doesnt look cooked enough and I got food poisoning from mine within 4hrs. Have called and emailed but have not had any replies. Guessing they are definitely under prepared and don’t monitor product.the aioli appeared curdled.
Food was so bad. Paid $53 for large chips, two fish, serving of prawns (3) and serving of calamari. Waited about 40 minutes for it and it was still somehow cold and tasted like it had been sitting on the bench for an hour. Calamari was, dry, hard, cold and inedible. Chips were cold. Fish was so overcooked that there was barely any fish inside the batter. Prawns were actually fine and hot, just very oily. Hard pass from us. They’re only busy because of their location and convenience.
Got charged $24 for three 300ml cokes when it clearly stated that they were 5 dollars each do better
