About
Ocean Banquet is a well-known fish and chip shop in Morley, Western Australia, drawing a steady crowd for its casual atmosphere and varied menu. Dine-in, takeaway, and delivery are all available, making it a flexible option for families and regulars alike. The venue is family-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and has free on-site parking.
The signature dishes are shark and chips along with squid rings, and these are what many regulars return for. The squid rings are thick and fresh with a crunchy batter, a step up from the frozen alternatives found elsewhere. Shark, hake, and snapper all feature on the menu alongside potato cakes and cheese sausages. The grilled fish option has drawn praise for its flavour, and service is noted as quick, particularly during busy periods.
Opinions are genuinely mixed, which is worth acknowledging. The chips can be chunky and crispy when on form, but some orders have come through soft or overcooked. Similarly, the battered squid has earned high praise from some diners while others have found the batter soggy. Pricing sits a little higher than nearby competitors, so it is best suited to those who prioritise freshness over a budget feed.
With a solid four-plus-star reputation across a healthy number of reviews, Ocean Banquet has clearly built loyal fans among the Morley community over the years. Phone ahead for larger orders or during peak dinner service.

Ocean Banquet was our go to takeaway for years, with the most reliably great fish & chips of any place I had tried in Perth, all at very reasonable prices. I absolutely loved their fish. We bought fish and chips from there at least once every 2 weeks, sometimes more.
The business changed hands some months back, and whilst the people running it are friendly, they really need to bring back the old owners to show them how to cook the food properly. The first time we had fish & chips after the old owners left, it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t awful. The second time was really unenjoyable. The fish wasn’t well cooked, the squid was soggy, and everything had a horrible brown colour. I suspect they’re not changing the oil regularly.
It’s really disappointing, we haven’t been able to bring ourselves to eat there again 🙁
Oily, soggy, old, repulsive batter. Nice cut of snapper but nothing could save this. Smelt like a fishing dock when I got in (the dirty kind), and the food matched my low expectations after that. Places like this are why fish and chip shops are a joke, can’t be trusted. I feel guilty for even putting this rubbish into my body and I wish I bought it through uber eats so I could refund the absolute HA out of it, waste of $44. Try eating your own food in a while and if you think this is acceptable then you need to sell.
The grilled fish was flavourful and delicious! Unfortunately the batter on the squid was soggy and the chips didn’t have enough chicken salt on for us to taste it. The service good and fast especially for Good Friday.
We got the the two person family meal, the fish itself seemed quite good, batter was nice at the time but my gut felt it the day after. Chips were okay, a bit soft and a fair were overcooked and brown. Serving size was small considering it was more expensive than other places nearby.
The best fish and chips you are likely to find.
Melbourne chipperies dream if having thick, fresh, juicy calamari rings like these guys serve up, with a crunchy batter to boot. No frozen chewy rubbish here.
The standard fish has beatiful dense white flesh, not dry, and again a tasty light crunchy batter.
Chips are chunky, crispy, yet soft inside.
Had a family meal with three large fillets, and a large serve of calamari/squid rings with a generous portion of chips.
You wont regret coming here, eat it fresh!
Photo only shows part of order as we only posted after we started eating!
I just stopped in to order some fish and Chip.. The Schapper was $13 a piece . Ok plus min chips $2 plus a can ..$18
When I opened my pack in the car I found one small piece of fish nd I thought theyust have given me 2 small pieces as it happens sometimes when the pieces are small .
But NO this was not the case. Just one small piece of Schapper / whitebait? I walked straight back in and told them they just said sorry that’s how it is.
Definitely won’t be buying fish and Chips here again soon.. Three bites and it’s gone .. I’m sure this Schapper was undersized and should have been thrown back in the water by the fishermen.
So Crimea Fn chps ..If you are going to charge $13 for a piece of Schapper…at least give a decent piece ..NOT a piece like whitebait ok. Thanks..

Ordered $5 chips, 3 cheese sausages, 4 potato cakes, and 1 piece of hake. Unfortunately, the hake was awful — slimy under the batter and mushy, as though it had been pre-chewed before frying. The same issue affected the potato cakes; the batter was soggy rather than crisp. Really disappointing overall, as everything else looked promising. Hoping this was just an off night because it completely spoiled the meal.
Fish wasn’t fresh. The potato scallops were barely cooked. I felt sick after eating it.
