About
Amberjacks Fish and Chips Cafe sits right at Elizabeth Quay in Perth’s city centre, making it one of the more distinctive spots to grab fish and chips in Perth. The women-owned venue is open seven days a week and caters to dine-in customers, takeaways, kerbside pickup, and delivery, so there are plenty of ways to enjoy the menu.
The signature Tropical Pack is the drawcard here, and the broader menu leans on iconic West Australian fish and chips as its core offering. Fresh, lightly battered fish fried to order is what regulars come back for, and the fat fries come in generous portions. The traditional paper wrapping is a nice touch that carries real charm for visitors and locals alike. Calamari also features on the menu. Portion sizes generally impress, though it pays to ask for condiments such as tartare sauce or ketchup as these are not always served by default.
The waterfront setting at Elizabeth Quay draws tourists and city workers alike, and the venue is fully wheelchair-accessible and family-friendly with a dedicated kids’ menu. Coffee is available for those who want something warm alongside their meal. Pricing sits on the higher end, with family combo options around the $70 mark, which reflects the prime location. The food quality is the main talking point, with the fish described as fresh and the batter consistently light.
Amberjacks is a solid option for anyone wanting fish and chips in Perth city, particularly if the Elizabeth Quay location suits. Phone ahead for larger group orders during peak hours.

Beautiful location with very fresh and tasty fish and chips! We had the tropical combo and the seafood one. Both were well cooked, fresh and tasty. Good portion sizes and they also included sauces which was a bonus! Will be back! ☺️
Generally all quite bland. Grilled Mackeral tastes slightly off. Barramundi is ok, better to have more flavour. Fish and chips has loads of chips but u need to request for tartar sauce and ketchup, they don’t serve it by default. Calamari also only has it own natural flavour
Chanced upon this place and was surprised by the food! We particularly enjoyed the fish and onion rings. Although the seats were not catered to our party of 6, was able to make do and we had a great meal! Good and thoughtful service, even though we were there close to their closing hours, staff did not hurry us but made provisions.
Yummy! Meaty, boneless and lightly breaded fish fried perfectly. At AUD22, it comes with fat fries in generous portion and also fried just right. Best part is they’re wrapped in paper for that traditional feel, esp when eating by the harbour 🙂
One thing I like is that the food is not fried with any salt, so we get to season to our preference using the condiments provided on the side. Sauce is an add-on cost, though.
During my visit, there was only one guy doing the cooking and working the till so he truly deserves a raise! We had to wait quite a bit but the food satisfaction made it worthwhile.
Hunting for fish and chips in Perth, found this spot. $22 each for fish and chips; lovely crunchy batter on thick fillets of fish, generous serve of nice chips. Served in paper which was fine. Pleasant service staff. We sat watching the South Perth ferries come and go whilst we ate.
Fish n chips at Elizabeth quay Perth.
The fish is South African Hake fillet.Nice enough, crispy batter.
Chips have room for improvement!
Ordered the family fish and chip combo tonight and got back to our place and was missing the sauce and lemon, then went back to the store and the lady advised that the $70 combo only comes with a tiny tarte sauce for 3 large fish….
Don’t tell me it’s going to be a large tarte sauce when it’s a tiny sauce.
The food was ok, service was to be desired.
The manager Daniel was pretty rude and dismissive. I waited by the “collect here” area but they held my order at the place where you order “order here” area, so by the time I got my food it was a bit cold. When I pointed this out to the manager he just shrugged at me and it was clear he didnt care. Food was ok, portions on the small side and a bit pricey. Nice location but there were lots of people who werent eating at the restaurant were taking up seats.
