About
Rockingham Beach Fish & Chips sits on the Rockingham foreshore, offering dine-in with outdoor seating, takeaway, and delivery to suit all kinds of visits. The menu centres on the classics, with snapper and chips at the heart of things, alongside potato cakes and battered sausages that regulars come back for regularly. The shop is halal-friendly, family-friendly, and wheelchair accessible, making it a practical choice for a wide range of diners.
Feedback on the food runs in both directions. On a good day, the snapper arrives with a crispy golden batter and a flaky white interior, portions lean generous, and service moves quickly. Some visits, however, bring soggy chips or dry fish, so quality can vary depending on the time or the rush. The outdoor foreshore seating is a genuine drawcard, and the combination of dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options adds flexibility.
A 10% Sunday surcharge applies, so it is worth factoring that in when planning a weekend visit. Card payments are accepted. For anyone searching for fish and chips in Rockingham, this spot covers the fundamentals and the location alone makes it a popular choice with families and locals alike.

I ordered a grilled fish, a seafood basket, potato scallops, and a crab stick from this place, but what arrived was nothing short of disappointing. The fish had a strong, off-putting, fishy smell, and it was drenched in a heavy layer of seasoning that seemed like an attempt to cover up the fact that it was outdated.
To make matters worse, the potato scallops were an absolute joke. Instead of the crispy, golden, potato slices you might expect, it was just a tiny piece of potato skin battered up. What even is that? It was unappetizing.
I immediately called the store to lodge a complaint. However, a young girl named Sam informed us that they couldn’t assist because we had ordered through Uber Eats.
When I pressed her for an explanation, Sam suggested that the fish might have gone bad because “the Uber drivers take too long, and the fish might spoil during the delivery process.” This reasoning didn’t sit well with me, especially since the food was already in a condition that could only be described as unfit for consumption.
The entire experience left me feeling incredibly frustrated. Not only was the food terrible, but the customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. I definitely won’t be returning, and I highly recommend staying far away from this place. There are plenty of other spots with better food and much more reasonable service.
My partner and I went in to get a serve of chips and snapper and it was absolutely amazing the fish was massive and the staff’s customer service was excellent the manger I think came out with two pieces of chicken for my partner and I also that they were giving out for free to try before selling the next day it was very nice 😊
Ordered a two-person meal (fish, chips, pineapple fritters, etc.). The lady at the front was lovely. We sat down and waited over 35 minutes for what was essentially chips and two pieces of fish. There were two customers before us complaining about the wait, and one was even demanding a refund, which was completely justified. Chips take 5–7 minutes to cook — there’s no excuse for a 35-minute wait.
When I went up to the counter to ask what was going on, I was told it would be another 5–10 minutes, yet almost immediately after that, the food was brought out.
We drove home to eat and opened the food to find the chips brown and soggy, and the batter on the fish and pineapple fritters wet and soggy. The food was completely uneatable. On top of that, the so-called “two-person meal” was more like a one-person meal, especially considering the price — around $40 for that portion is unacceptable. For the price and the ridiculous wait time, this should never have been served. The only decent thing was the gravy.
I rang the store asking for a refund because the food was not fit to eat. They told me they needed to contact the “boss” and asked me to come back in, which I did — with all the food. The manager helping us was lovely, and I don’t want him getting in trouble at all, same with the lady at the front — they were the only good things about this experience.
The manager rang his boss and came back to tell us the refund was refused because the amount was “too large” ($90). We were offered a remake or store credit, which I refused, as I did not want to eat from this place again after what we had just been served. They also did not have a “no refund” policy posted, so refusing a refund in this situation is illegal under Australian Consumer Law, which clearly states that food must be of acceptable quality and fit to eat.
After insisting, we were finally given a cash refund, even though we had paid by card in store.
If there were numerous complaints during the one time I went in, I can’t imagine how many people must complain to them regularly — yet they are clearly doing nothing to fix it. This place has gone downhill since they renovated it. Not sure if it’s new ownership or just the renovation, but it used to be good and now it’s not.
I would not recommend this place at all. Poor food quality, excessive wait times, and unnecessary pushback on a legitimate refund. Again, the only positives were the front staff member and the manager — they handled it as best they could
Amazing freshly made chips, battered sausages and potato scallops. Always our go to for high quality Fish and Chips.
Absolutely amazing fish and chips right on the Rockingham Foreshore! The fish was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and fresh and flaky inside—and the chips were golden and delicious. Portions were generous and great value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location makes it even better, enjoying great food with a beautiful ocean view. Definitely one of the best fish and chip spots around, highly recommend!
Ordered online while I was at the beach at around 1.30 and order said it would be ready at 1.50. Walked over for the correct pick up time to collect but they had not even started cooking it. I waited until past 2.10 as that was the last time I looked at my phone to check the time and apologise to my friend who was watching all our kids. There was no apology or acknowledgement about the delay.
I ordered a corn dog, 2 battered snapper, 1 grilled snapper with chips and then extra chips on the side.
The fish wasnt bad but I dont think it was snapper and the batter was very wet. I paid extra for grilled fish and didnt get it. The chips were soggy and sort of a weird colour comparing any other place i have been. The best thing was the corn dog thing. It was too expensive for what it was and the serving size of chips is ridiculous, I didnt get what I paid for and I waited too long. There are too many other options on that strip so I would expect them to try harder but alas.. they do not. I wont go back
Visited yesterday. Ordered snapper and chips. Told it would be 15 min wait, was actually 35 min
The snapper was a small portion, tasted absolutely delicious, batter was crispy and yummy. The fish was white and cooked to perfection
The chips were horrible. Way overcooked, tasteless
The girl serving was lovely, apologetic for the wait
Overall disappointing experience, won’t be back
Been going here for more than 10 years ,was best chippy in Rockingham but recently I think it’s changed owners, the portions are literally a third of the size! The large chips has shrunk to not much more than a hand full, feels very stingy and no longer such great value. We’ve started going to another chippy now. Don’t know why new owners change what obviously made the place a success. Sad that people are so greedy for more profit
