About
Seafood at the Beach is a well-known fish and chip shop in Dee Why, sitting right on the Northern Beaches and drawing a steady crowd of locals and visitors alike. The menu is broad, covering classic battered fish and chips alongside grilled options like salmon and barramundi, BBQ calamari, BBQ octopus, and tiger prawns. The cocktail fish and chips is the signature dish, and the shop promotes its seafood as prepared from the freshest ingredients available.
Regulars favour the battered fish for its light, crispy coating and solid portion sizes, and the grilled salmon is noted for being cooked with care. The chips draw mixed opinions, though plenty of diners report satisfaction. The staff earn consistent praise for being friendly and helpful at the counter, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere of the place.
Dine-in, takeaway, and delivery are all available, and the outdoor seating makes it a popular spot for families. There is a kids’ menu, a salad bar, and catering options for larger gatherings. The venue accepts reservations, which is handy during busy periods as a wait is common, particularly at dinner. Fish and chips are priced in the high teens, reasonable for a beachside location on the Northern Beaches.
Decent reviews across a large number of diners suggest a reliable, if occasionally inconsistent, experience. Phone ahead to reserve a table or place an order during peak times.

We are locals and eat at seafood at the beach when we feel like fish and chips. The battered fish and chips are a good portion size, lovely quality batter, not too heavy and crispy. Grilled salmon is cooked beautifully and the Greek salad is fresh. The staff are focused on cooking good quality meals. The hand basin with soap and always paper towel is a great touch. The fitout is fit for purpose the place is normally heaving with customer so needs to be basic and hard wearing.
Fantastic freshly cooked fish n chips. My favourite is the flathead battered. For those who don’t like seafood The cheese burger is good too. Sitting outside is beautiful especially when the wind has dropped.
Update on my review yesterday: 1 child became sick overnight and the other in morning. My partner is also feeling sick today – I didn’t eat what they ate I tried a chip and couldn’t eat no more – all 3 ate the calamari, scallops, ect. The children are Vomiting and on the toilet a lot …. No one else in family or who they have been in contact with are sick. All were well prior to eating this food.
You guys have mostly aways had good food – not sure why last nights was so off. Have to admit I had not been here for over 6 months.
Day of purchase: The person who served me had great service, however food was uneatable. Calamari tasted off absolutely off it left a fowl taste in month. Chips were hard as Rock. Potato inside chips was powdery. Crab stick was gooey – sorry the only way to explain it. I wouldn’t normally leave reviews and feel terrible for leaving such a bad review however my concern is that the standard of tonight’s food if it remains the same it will make someone sick, really sick. The oil has also not been changed for a very long time …… note: this is a real review I do t work in the hospitality industry, I have no grudge against any person associated with company. This was my experience tonight.
You can’t touch feel through photos however I have posted anyway.
I paid $7.20 for a small chips not only to wait 10-15 mins for chips that where already made and sitting there.
Two customers only in the store and three staff.
I live so close and every time I’ve felt the customer service is extremely poor.
Cold chips crap service and I won’t be back.
That pic is what 7 bucks gets you
Fish and chips were really good, don’t know why ppl were complaining in the reviews, probably depends on a chef. Also I really appreciate the friendly staff at counter (a guy and a lady) who were really kind and helpful!
The batter is decent, the fish is fresh and the sauce are good but, on the downside, they should make way better chips. They were undercooked and not crispy which should be mandatory for an 18 dollars fish and chips (19.80 as sunday)
Ordered cocktail fish n chips and grilled baramundi.
Cocktail fish was fine, however, chips were kinda ok.
Griller baramundi was super dry and could not eat it.
Portion sizings were great value for a 14 dollar burger, though food took 15 minutes to come.
