About
Ocean Master Fish and Chips has been serving the Newport Beach community for over 30 years, building a well-rated reputation along the Northern Beaches of New South Wales. Women-owned and operated, the shop is known for its traditional fish and chips made with wild-caught sustainable hake cooked in 100% rice bran oil. That commitment to fresh, quality ingredients comes through consistently, with regulars noting the seafood is cooked to order and arrives piping hot.
The menu covers all the classics and then some. Calamari is a firm favourite, with locals and visitors reportedly driving considerable distances specifically for it, freshly cut, battered, and cooked on the spot. Prawn cutlets, sea scallops, fish burgers, and a salad of the day round out a menu that caters to a range of tastes. The shop also holds halal certification and offers vegetarian options, a kids’ menu, and catering for larger gatherings. Dine-in seating is available both indoors and out, and delivery is on offer for those who’d rather eat at home.
Service is a genuine highlight here. The staff are consistently described as warm and welcoming, and the venue is clean and family-friendly, with wheelchair-accessible facilities. Free parking makes a visit easy, and card and mobile payments are accepted.
Ocean Master opens seven days from 11am, covering both lunch and dinner, though winter hours can vary so it pays to check ahead by phone or app before making the trip.

Stopped by for a quick meal and was very happy with the fish and chips from this little place. The lady serving was very nice and welcoming and the food was very tasty. I definitely will be coming back! I highly recommend ordering food from here and then walking across the road and eating it at the beach!
Emma was very friendly and the food was amazing.purposely didn’t have any sauces on the fisherman’s basket and omg it was cooked to perfection and super fresh. By far the best fish and chips on the Northern Beaches. Please try for yourself 🙏😋😋😋
Disappointed that my grilled barramundi and salad came out like this-such a simple order and seems there is no system with their numbering system either-when 3 people who ordered after us got their food before ours. Wt?
Was the cleanest fish and chip shop I’ve ever visited though just can’t read an order docket.
Sadly very underwhelming. Potato scallops were overcooked, tiny and ranged from being hard to super thin. Whilst the fish cocktails were the size of a prawn. For the price you pay, very poor, sadly wont be going again.
The food here is fantastic. Very fresh and tasty seafood. We visited for lunch on a Saturday during summer school holidays and it was pretty quiet. The place was very clean and friendly service. Would highly recommend for great fish and chips near the beach.
We drove 45 mins to the beach and tried this fish and chip sholip due to the review’s. I have to say I agree with the bad comments about the potato scallops, they were bland and hard potato. The batter was not nice, it looked burnt or old oil or something. I did enjoy the fish cocktails they were small but at least tasted nice. Lastly the staff, the young kid was nice serving people, but the old chubby man!! So rude.. he served us , it was an effort to repeat my order back to me when i asked “can please remind me what i ordered” and had the worst attitude. So we wont be back. Also for the 2 of us 2 snack packs and 2 drinks was $38!
We drive 30mins for the best calamari in Sydney!! They cut it, batter and cook it fresh! Old school milkshakes too. Take it across the road to the beach to eat it 😋
Same owners and service since I‘ve been there last time about twelve years ago. Really pleased to have fish‘n’chips here again.
