About
FoshTails is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Hamilton, Queensland, earning a strong reputation among locals and visitors alike. Positioned along the river, the venue pairs quality seafood with a relaxed setting, outdoor seating, and table service that lifts it well beyond the average suburban chippy. It’s open for lunch and dinner, takes reservations, and welcomes groups and tourists.
The menu leans into fresh, well-prepared fish as the centrepiece. Cod is a clear highlight, available battered, crumbed, grilled, or in a coconut crumb that regulars rate highly. Before 5pm, a two-for-one cod special makes for genuinely good value, and a happy hour for beer and wine runs alongside it. The platter for two is popular for those who want variety, served with a generous selection of dishes and house-made sauces. Fries and fresh salad round out the plates, and the kitchen also serves dessert, coffee, and cocktails for those looking to linger.
FoshTails caters well to families, with a dedicated kids’ menu and both takeaway and delivery available for those who’d rather eat at home. The venue is wheelchair accessible with accessible seating, and free street parking makes it easy to reach. Dine-in is a strong option here, particularly outside when the weather cooperates.

Great quality fish and chips. The meal was lovely and the service was friendly. Plus the atmosphere is very nice too! They had a good lunch special on for the cod (2 for 1), so it was great value too. I would happily return!
Amazing value for money excellent quality . Coconut cod and battered cod with a side of fries and salad. Super fresh and tasty $20 for the lot. We visit here often as it’s nice and cool and when very hot they have the water spray fans . Quick and easy lunch.
Got battered cod and chips with a beer jug on a quiet afternoon. The serving was slightly smaller than expected and oddly served in 2 plates instead of 4, since we were a group of four. Fish and chips tasted fairly basic, neither good nor bad. Service was also quite cold. I’d come here solely for the views and the 2 for 1 cod deal.
Great place for a casual lunch or early dinner. They have a fabulous special before 5pm – 2 for 1 cod $12 which you can have battered, crumbed, grilled, or coconut crumb (my fave) and also have a happy hour for beer and wine. Fish was delicious and service friendly.
What a hidden gem! Fresh seafood paired with beautiful river views.
We ordered the platter for two, which offered a great variety of dishes along with three excellent sauces. A true test of any fish and chip shop is the fish, and this one did not disappoint! Perfectly cooked, flaky, and clearly fresh rather than pre-frozen like many other places. The chips were hand-cut, golden, and full of flavour.
Highly recommended. There is ample free up to 2hrs on-site parking available. Just note that the main restaurant Fosh and FoshTails are located separately, with the FoshTails shop situated on the side.
Food was good, good cheap $7 beers between during happy hours 3pm and 6pm …nice views of the river and to top it off i had a very friendly, helpful and professional staff that was in training at the cashier named Zayden, I didn’t realise he was in training until I tried to get his name on his badge that said IN TRAINING, always had a smile on his face when serving and went above n beyond to get Tabasco sauce which they only stock nextdoor at their restaurant shop …he will be a great asset to the store.
The 20% surcharge was a tad steep for public holidays but i didnt mind from the overall experience .
Thanks for giving me good memories for my australia day 2026
Good fish and chips. Quality of the food was good. Drink options were slim – service was good but not great. Weekday special is awesome! And you get a huge amount of food for what you pay!
FoshTails is one of those simple pleasures attached to a rockstar restaurant. You’re basically getting a half-price version of a proper silver-service experience, but with the best bit: sitting outside with a casual vibe and zero fuss.
You honestly can’t complain here. The fish is as good as fish gets, crisp and fresh, never greasy. And the chips? As good as you’ll find anywhere in Brisbane. Possibly on par with the best I’ve ever had.
It also has that nostalgic feel, like somewhere your dad would take you on a day when you were presenting to go to School.
Eat in, takeaway, whatever works. And if it’s raining, they’ll even let you eat FoshTails inside the bar at FOSH (restaurant), which says everything about the staff. Properly good all round
