So I tried a cod + chips ($12.50) and Red Ocean burger ($10) and I feel like i need to explain the food star rating.
Fish – it was sooo lackluster. No flavour, basically all crumb, thin as hell. The crumb wasn’t even that good, just standard bread. I thought my chicken salted chips might save it, but there was little to no salt. While they did have a good crunch, they had no flavour. It feels harsh, but I would rate that maybe 1.5/5
Chicken – interesting that the chicken is the star at a seafood restaurant. Juicy, big chicken cutlet, fresh lettuce, not overcooked bacon, could use a little more toast on the buns but that’s really nitpicky. Weird to say, but come to this seafood store for its chicken burger, it’s pretty good, 4/5.
Don’t come here for cod & chips (maybe the other fish are better?), but come here for a pretty good chicken burger.
If you’re looking for top-notch fish and chips with that old-school, home-cooked feel — look no further! This local gem is run by the most lovely husband and wife team who clearly pour their heart into every meal they serve.
The food? Fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The fish is perfectly battered and crispy, not greasy at all, and the portions are generous. But let’s talk about the hot chips — hands down the best I’ve ever had. Golden, crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. You can tell they really know their craft.
Their burgers are next level too — juicy patties, fresh ingredients, and the kind of flavour that keeps you coming back. Everything is cooked to order, but the service is impressively fast without compromising quality.
The whole experience feels like visiting friends who just happen to be amazing cooks. Friendly smiles, genuine service, and a warm local vibe that makes you want to support them again and again.
This place is a true local treasure — do yourself a favour and try it out. You won’t be disappointed!
I loved the freshness of the seafood when this place was a restaurant on duporth av. I was so pleased a neighbour told me they run a fish and chip shop in maroochydore. The yummy salt and pepper calamari with their special coated crunchy chips instantly took me back. And the small pack fresh prawns available for purchase were also fresh and delicious. These people understand fresh seafood at affordable prices
Love this place. Owner and staff are always so lovely. Food is superb. Our family absolutely love the steak burgers with the lot, fried chicken, and variety of fish and chips here.
I think that was one of the best fish burgers I have had in a long time. Beautiful big piece of fresh white fish fillet, great bun and fresh lettuce and tomato. At $8.50 a total bargain. And the chips were spot on as well. Wonderful crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked inside. Too often the chips at “fish and chips” places are a let down but I could not fault these!
Five stars for me.
We recently moved nearby and honestly we get the crunchy fried chicken burgers around twice a week cause they’re so freaking good!! The couple that own the shop are hard working 6 days a week, and are always so lovely, friendly and efficient! Our favourite takeout spot!
I’ve been here mamy times over the years for F&C & enjoyed it.
Tonight I thought I’d try the crumbed chicken. The shop was busy but my request for a special order was taken with pleasure & a smile.
I watched the activity in the kitchen & noticed how everything was done with mindfulness & precision. Each piece of chicken individually shaken of oil with chop sticks & checked, rather than simply lumped in a basket & then dumped in a box. This couple are cooking with love. As tho each & every customer is a respected family member.
No surprise the chicken was the crunchiest & yet most moist I’ve ever eaten. Chips are always perfection. Gold & crunchy outside, fluffy inside.
Always immaculately clean & well lit. Most people cokkecf ; go but a few caffe style tables are available should you wish to sit & eat.
Highly recommend.
Paul and Chinn are like family. My business is just a block away and their crumbed Cod is the best….. however that’s just a starter… their chips are amazing!!!!… I don’t order them that often as I’m… you know? “weight conscious” but when I do, the smile on Paul’s face tells me “There’s a man who knows his chip” I’m getting the munchies just talking about them…. We live in a world of mediocrity and when something is above the average it should be broadcast to all…. thanks for reading and bless you both. John D.
