About
Blu By Australian Seafood Group brings a more polished dining experience to Coburg North, sitting comfortably above the typical fish and chip shop with a full bar, outdoor seating, and table service alongside its takeaway and delivery options. The focus is firmly on fresh seafood, and the menu reflects that with dishes like whole snapper and grilled wild-caught barramundi prepared to order.
Regulars favour the generous serves, and the fish is consistently praised for being fresh and cooked well. Salt and pepper calamari is a popular order, and the family pack draws repeat visits from households across the area. The kitchen caters to a range of dietary needs, with halal, vegetarian, and healthier choices all available. Families are well looked after with a kids’ menu and high chairs on hand, and the venue is fully wheelchair accessible with accessible parking nearby.
The experience can shift a little depending on who is on the floor or behind the fryer on a given night, with chips occasionally drawing mixed feedback while the fish tends to hold up more reliably. Service is generally friendly and efficient, and the venue holds a well-rated standing across a sizeable number of reviews, reflecting broad and consistent appeal.
Blu accepts reservations, though a short wait is common during busier periods. Catering is also available for larger gatherings. For anyone after quality seafood in Coburg North, this one has earned its loyal following. Phone ahead for orders during the dinner rush.

Perfectly grilled wild caught barramundi and whole snapper. We ordered a small chips and salad to share, servings were very generous. Service was friendly and efficient. We will return.
Be careful because they DO NOT update their menu prices.
We ordered their sweet potato fries which had a printed price of AUD $11.50 (see pic) but the charged price was AUD $14.50. When we pointed out this disparity, the nice younger male cashier was about to honour the lower price but the senior lady stepped in curtly and said “we wrote on our menu that prices are subject to change”
Whilst we understand that fresh seafood has daily market prices, it does not apply to sweet potatoes.
Furthermore, according to the ACCC website, all different prices MUST be clearly stated AND the business must only charge the lower printed prices until the business updates their pricing.
I find this business ethic rather unscrupulous.
I understand that business is good and maybe they do not have the time to update it, but all it takes it just crossing off the old price and marking it with an updated price.
I believe Blue Seafood is fully aware of the price discrepancy but doesnt bother to do anything about it.
SIDE NOTE:
The food was good, my fish was delicious. The floor staff is extremely friendly.
Cant say much for the rather curt grumpy lady.
Brought my parents and cousin here for dinner — we’re total fish lovers (like cats with fish!), and this place was perfect for us. Every type of fish we ordered was fresh and cooked just right. Also loved that you can pick either rice or chips on the side. A great choice for anyone who enjoys a good, no-fuss seafood meal.
Generally good food and service. However, it can vary depending on staffing (especially the quality of the chips, the fish is typically very good). It’s worth a visit if you are in the area.
Ordered the family pack and salt & pepper calamari. The chips were on the bland side and the fish portions were a bit small. The cashier could have been more welcoming, and it would be great if they offered more seasoning options like chicken salt or pepper. Wouldn’t say it’s the best fish and chips, but the food was fresh, the calamari was tender, and overall it was still an enjoyable meal.
This is my favourite place I think I eat from the place every week
So yummm and the The staff are very nice.
Food was actually good and well prepared just on the pricey side for what it is.
Service felt arrogant and unwelcoming which really took away from the experience. Overall fine if you just want food but not somewhere I’d rush back to.
A very nice fish and chip shop with almost everything seafood on the menu. It has had some changes, as sauces are now being added to some items, and they are not particularly satisfying. Would be better as a side option, as the customer would generally prefer to taste the seafood.
