About
Just Hooked Halal Fish and Chips has built a solid reputation in Pascoe Vale for fresh, well-cooked seafood served in a relaxed, casual setting. The menu centres on classic Australian fish and chip shop fare with a halal difference, covering flake, King George whiting, barramundi, calamari rings, halal chicken nuggets, and a fish burger. Dine-in, takeaway, and delivery are all available, making it easy to enjoy however suits the occasion.
The batter is a highlight that regulars keep coming back for. Light, crispy, and fried in clean oil, it lets the freshness of the fish shine without being heavy or greasy. The calamari rings in particular draw consistent praise for being cooked just right. Chip portions are generous, and the quality carries the kind of old-school flavour that hits the spot.
The warmth of the staff is a real drawcard for this Pascoe Vale fish and chip shop. The team is known for being genuinely friendly and accommodating, willing to work around customer requests and go the extra mile. Vegetarian options are also available for those not after seafood.
The shop attracts steady local support and the occasional visitor from further afield who has made the trip specifically for halal fish and chips in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. Parking is free and card payments are accepted. Open for lunch and dinner, so check current hours before heading in.

Good quality products. Always gives more mussels than what i order. Decent size fish. Need to park around corner. Has eftpos with $15 min. Service is ok but sometimes slow.
Nice fresh fish and the chips were good. Particular praise to the deep fried stuff–batter is light and the oil is clean and fresh. Crunchy and delicious! The calamari was cooked absolutely perfectly.
This is the best fish and chip shop in the area. The fish portions are generous, fresh and delicious. I love the chips which taste like the ones from my childhood (70s), no surprise since the owners are Greek and clearly know what they are doing.
I can highly recommend this F&C shop.
Edit : can also recommend the burgers. Excellent old school hamburger with the lot. Tasty and not over seasoned.
Had been told good things about this spot, so I had expectations. Fish was bang on, chips less so. Service short and sharp, albeit effective. Dinner pack for 2 is way overpriced at $34 – no one’s eating your seafood sticks – and a ‘no variations’ policy to it is restrictive. $1 extra for a change of fish was a surprise too and seemed a little price gougy
The staff here are very lovely and bubbly. Made compromises on the menu for me and were very sweet. Even offered me free drinks just for the sake of being nice. Will definitely come again. Food is good too ofc :).
Was searching for halal fish n chips near Queen Victoria Market and this place came up. Still quite a drive actually BUT we definitely had a lovely experience dining here! The place wasn’t set up for large groups but the staff went out of their way to bring in tables and chairs from outside so our whole group could enjoy our meal together.
There were two staff on duty that day (I forgot to ask their names unfortunately). One was a friendly lady in hijab and glasses, and the other a polite young man with a moustache, who made sure we received all our food before his shift ended. They were both welcoming and generous, even giving us some extra sides and items since we had a few young kids with us.
My son said he really liked the fish and wished he could have it again. And my daughter, who usually needs help finishing her meal, finished up an entire burger on her own.
Hope to come back here if we’re in Melbourne!
And to the staff who served us, may He bless you both for your kindness, warmth and generosity.
Perfect local fish ‘n’ chip shop. New management, just got a burger and fried flake, potato cakes, dimmies and chips. Burger was delicious and moreish, chips and flake were crispy and the dimmies were hot and steaming. Plus an extra dimmy, the love you get from a local.
the asian workers are not good, you should not be working if you cannot understand simple english making it hard to communicate with customers. we got the snack pack with 3 fish bites and a fried dimsim, we tried to ask for flake bites but they could not understand what we were asking for unlike our other local.
the kids pack was also ordered, the nuggets seemed undercooked. i did get an extra fish bite but i didnt receive my drink and it was so under seasoned (everything) that i had to use my own chicken salt.
we asked for 4 steamed dimsims but instead received fried? while we had only asked for ONE fried. one potato cake was also asked for, instead of two (as one comes in a pack) they only gave one.
things were wrong and missing, though with your own chicken salt the chips are nice, and the fish bites and tartar sauce were very good. just bad service as they get things wrong so dont waste your money
