About
Gerry’s Fresh Seafood is a distinctive fish and chip shop in Geelong that operates from a street-side spot beside the water, where orders are placed directly from the boat. The setup is casual and relaxed, with outdoor seating under a gazebo on park benches, making it a fun, no-fuss spot for families or anyone after a fresh seafood feed. Dogs are welcome outside, and the venue is wheelchair accessible with dedicated parking.
The menu leans heavily into fresh seafood, and the standout items are the seafood paella and calamari and chips. The paella is packed with mussels through the rice, and the mussels on their own draw plenty of praise for arriving steaming hot and fresh. Calamari and chips are a popular order, and the fish and chips are noted for crispy batter with a generous hit of salt. Potato cakes are also on the menu for those after something a little more classic. Pricing is reasonable, though portion sizes lean towards a lighter, snack-style serve rather than a large sit-down meal, so it suits those after a quick bite rather than a big lunch.
Gerry’s is open for lunch and dinner, with dine-in and takeaway both available, and halal options on offer. Card and mobile payments are accepted. It is family friendly and welcomes a mix of regulars and visitors passing through the Geelong area. Service wait times can vary during busy periods, so a little patience goes a long way on a popular day.
Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid a long wait.

The prawns were good, fish and chips and seafood paella were average. However, for the cost of the fish and chips I was expecting a slightly larger portion. Their meals are more of a quick bite size.
If you have time on your hands then go for it, because the waiting time to be served was at least 20 minutes when there were maybe 4-5 people ahead of us. And then an extra 15ish minutes for the food to be served.
They’ve got a tent up by the docks for people to sit and eat, but it’s limited seating space.
Overall its a good experience, but I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re after a dinner or lunch, personally I think it’s better suited towards a quick bite or a snack.
Muscles were fresh, but unfortunately, they were not properly cleaned. I would have liked them slightly bigger as well. The dish was, unfortunately, served cold (supposed to be hot). It was still good. Calamari and chips were ok. Lacking a bit of salt and also not hot when it reached the table. Lovely setting.
While having a walk on the eastern beach we noticed Gerry’s mussel sign and about 7 people waiting in line .
We ordered the seafood paella and the fish and chips . After waiting for about 10 min we got our order and sat at the tables near by .
Both dishes were very tasty ,fresh and plentiful.
Also the service was friendly .
Look for the sign you can’t miss it !
definitely a place you should try.
The mussels are fresh and to die for, steaming hot and yummy. Fish and chips are great and so is the seafood paella.
It may be challenging on a windy day but that adds to the ambiance and fresh sea air..
So good and welcoming on our visit to the sea front.
Went to lunch at this tiny street restaurant beside the water and you order from the boat. Ordered calamari & chips, seafood paella and boom! Lunch was sorted and food was yum! Had to go back for diner and ordered the same but this time with mussel on white wine and it was beautiful! The ambiance of the eating are was park/street picnic bench covered with gazebo! Winner! Price wise is very reasonable which would have been doubled if you eat in a fancy restaurant just next to it. Only thing was, smokers do not care to families eating with children. Hope the rangers/police can stop this.
Sadly its probably one of the worst fish and chips I’ve had. The fish barely had any batter and it was able looking. Not crispy at all. The chips were soaked in oil and again not crispy at all. $20 for fish and chips and the portion was very small.
mussels were beautiful- paella has lots of mussels inside the rice too and the fish and chips are crispy & lots of salt!
5/5 stars 🌟
First and Last attempt.
Went during a quiet time. The taste was good, but it couldn’t really satisfy me — portions were a bit small and slightly pricey.
