About
Snappas Fish ‘n’ Chippery is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Point Cook, serving the local community with a menu that covers all the classics and a few extras besides. Fish, chips, calamari, dim sims, potato cakes, burgers, souvlaki, steak sandwiches, and snacks are all on offer, with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options available to suit however you want to eat.
The shop’s dedicated gluten-free fryer is a genuine point of difference. Regulars with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivities regularly return for the gluten-free battered fish, chips, potato cakes, and pineapple fritters, confident they’re coming from a separate fryer. The batter is noted for being light and crispy, and the fish is consistently well-cooked. The hand-made potato cakes are the shop’s signature, and they show it. The menu also includes grilled options, with barramundi and salmon available for those after something lighter. A kids’ menu makes the whole family welcome.
Snappas is family-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and offers free parking on site. Card and mobile payments are accepted. For anyone in Point Cook looking for fish and chips that genuinely cater to dietary needs without compromising on the classics, Snappas is a solid choice with a growing following. Decent fish and chips, the fish was cooked beautifully. We bought the couple pack for $25, got 2 flakes, 2 dimsims, 2 potato cakes, 2 calamari rings, chips and 1.25l drink. The calamari rings were not good, tasted a little bit artificial. I will give a 5 star review if only the calamari rings taste better and the chips were crispier, great service, friendly staffs ☺️👍
Nice fish shop. Grilled barra and salmon cooked nicely, but barra doesn’t seem to have much flavors at all. Salmon taste ok. The grilled fish come with complementary lettuces and tomato, which is a bonus. The barra fish portion seems too small. The fish only come with lemon, and no sauces at all. All sauces are additional charges. Card surcharge applied. Plenty of parking nearby and walking distance from bus stop. Seating available indoor and outdoor, but very limited. Tables also quite dirty. Price are average.
WORST FISH AND CHIPS EVER. Ordered a couples pack and paid 44$. Can’t even describe how bad it was I would’ve rather throw my money on the floor. Can’t rate negative stars or else I would. Best thing out of the whole meal was the 1.25L coke. Calamari rings were rock hard and I couldn’t see the calamari at all. Fish tasted like it was dehydrated and it was inedible. Potato cakes were raw and chewy. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this was really called for…
I’ve bought takeaway from Snappas many times and love their food. The gluten free fried fish is fresh and the batter is light and crispy. We also buy gf chips, potato cakes and pineapple fritters. Staff are friendly and there’s never been a mistake in any of my orders. Non-gf family members enjoy Snappas, too.
Wrong order!! When I open it she put give me the two potato cake when I said two dim sim!! I pay 19$ for nothing! So slow, I waited for toooooo long and yet the order is wrong!!! So frustrating.I will never order and I will not recommend this shop ever again!
My husband ordered our fish n chips online! The order for a family of 5 came to $95. I nearly fell over! I’m like there has to be something wrong! He said no it’s correct! WTH! So 3 flake 8!potato cakes 5 dimsims a burger and chips comes to $95. Never again! Ripping families off this is called.
When my husband went to pick up the order he said that online prices are $1 each item more expensive than ordering in the shop!
I would never eat here again let alone be able to say it was worth the $95 because it was tasteless!
I have been going here regularly due to my Mum having Coeliac Disease which
Snappas is great at catering to. GF calamari rings are better than normal due to you being able to taste the squid with myself liking the normal dim Sims over the gluten free ones. Everyone else is about the same.
It only tasted bad once when they gave it to me raw with you being able to taste the water. You can also see a lot of boxes off to the side which doesn’t help the atmosphere with it also being kinda dirty looking.
Delicious food, and so nice to have a dedicated gluten-free fryer!! I can finally enjoy chips again with no worries. They could have been saltier (will definitely ask for extra salt next time) but it was still delicious and well worth the journey.
