Chicken burger was cooked well, good balance of ingredients. The sauce and slaw didn’t overpower the burger as a lot of others
around Melbourne tend to. I can vouch for the other reviews when they say the potato cakes were super crunchy. I was not prepared for the extreme crunch and I have no regrets! (and they threw an extra one in for good measure). Flake and chips were cooked well also. The staff were also very kind and accomodating. The only down side was the price. It was a little on the expensive side but I suppose being the only fish and chips shop in a boutique tourist location, they can afford to.
Probably the BEST fish n chips we have had in a long time! Homemade potato cakes were delicious, and the flake was fresh, and large piece. Will definitely go back for another Sunday drive
We arrived at about 3pm and the place was quiet. A young gentleman prepared our order. The food was very delicious. The chips were piping hot, crisp outer and soft inside. Thick flakes were fresh and don’t feel greasy. We ended our late lunch with Vulcano gelato. Very nice ice cream!
Got a grilled flake for $12 and it was TINY. About half the size of my hand. Unbelievable waste of money. Very disappointed.
Very little taste which added insult to injury.
My dinner of grilled butter fish, scallop, potato cake & pineapple fritter were all well cooked & delicious. The service and prices were great and the dine in seaside vibe very enjoyable. Highly recommended!
I asked for Barramundi to be grilled WITHOUT flour in the order notes. When I picked it up it was coated in flour and not edible for me.
Luckily I picked it before I got too far and was able to take back and they apologised and were more than happy to redo. Really appreciate their approach to customer service.
The strangest thing is that they said that this was the standard way to cook grilled fish. If you wanted fish coated in flour, I think you would order fried!
Barramundi Isla a wonderfully tasty fish and really is best, lightly grilled with a bit of oil.
Funnily, I travel almost 20km to eat here, as I have been less than impressed with the way that all the other ones close by (about 4-5 F&C places) also only seem to think that grilling fish needs flour and do not make nice fish if not fried. Lonnie Fish & chips when they cook the Barra without flour do a very good job and I would highly recommend.
I’ve been living in NZ for 17 years and they love to brag about the quality of their fish and chips. I would challenge any kiwi to have a delicious piece of the perfectly cooked flake from Lonnie’s and maintain NZ has better fish and chips. Delicious potato cakes, dimmies, calamari rings and chips. Would HIGHLY recommend. The outlook over the bay in the park across the road was the perfect place to enjoy them.
I’ll be back for more when in Point Lonsdale!
Ok had Barramundi and half served of chips. Chips where good 7/10. Fish was great 8/10. Batter could of been good but had alot of oil on it still. Not sure if it just didn’t get drained correctly or what but was super oily to the point that it was slippery and broken open when lifted. Batter still tasted nice though surprisingly 6/10 for Batter. Overall great value, Nice location, great service. Would recommend going and would 100% go back. Thanks 🙂
