About
Queenscliff Harbour Fish & Chips sits right on the Queenscliff waterfront, making it one of the more well-placed fish and chip shops in this part of Victoria. The location draws a steady crowd of locals, day-trippers, and tourists, and the outdoor seating means there is a genuinely relaxed atmosphere for those who want to slow down over their meal.
The menu covers the classics alongside some welcome extras. Fish burgers and vegetarian burgers both earn consistent praise, with regulars noting the ingredients are fresh and the cooking is unhurried rather than rushed. The shop also offers a salad bar, small plates, coffee, beer, and wine, along with a dedicated kids’ menu that makes it a practical choice for families. Halal options and gluten-free alternatives are available, and separate oils are used, which is a detail that matters to plenty of diners. Dine-in and takeaway are both well catered for, and wheelchair-accessible parking, entry, and seating are provided.
Honest feedback from regulars does flag that prices sit on the higher end, which is largely in line with what other businesses along the wharf charge. On busy days, service can slow down and a bit of patience helps. That said, the food itself draws solid praise across the board, with freshness and quality prep being the consistent themes.
The shop is open for lunch and dinner, card and mobile payments are accepted, and free parking is available nearby. A good stop for anyone spending time around Queenscliff.

Best option for food on the strip. Reasonable and fresh. The fish burger was nice. So was the vegetarian burger. The ingredients were fresh. They take time to cook it well. The staff pay attention. They don’t serve alcohol for the moment. The coffees are through the vending machine. Lots of place to sit and eat. Very satisfied.
Great fish and chips. Excellent location. As others have mentioned was very expensive, but so is everything else on the wharf there. Premium location, premium price. Needed to ask a few times for extra bowls or sauces when dining in, but the butterfish was especially nice, and the chips, flake, and scallops were all very decent
Visited with a friend and we were really looking forward to some classic fish and chips. The food itself was just okay—nothing too special. Unfortunately, the experience was soured by the service. The older lady at the front counter was noticeably rude. When my friend placed the order, she spoke in a completely different tone—disinterested and cold. We tried to brush it off, thinking she might be having a rough day, but it became clear that wasn’t the case when she treated the next customer (right after us) with warmth, friendliness, and a completely different attitude.
It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, especially because it seemed like the attitude shift was based on where someone might be from. Really disappointing to see that kind of behavior in a place that serves the public. Hopefully they reflect on how this impacts customers’ experiences.
This place has options of halal and gluten free.
They use seperate oils too.
Very good ambiance and loved it.
Great spot and great food. On a busy day the wait and the service are not amazing but worth the spot.
Queenscliff Harbour Fish & Chips is such a great stop if you’re out exploring Queenscliff, especially right by the water and just outside the bus stop that’ll take you back toward Geelong. It’s perfect for a casual lunch with harbour views and fresh fish and chips.
I had the kids nugget pack with a fish cake, and everything tasted really good. The nuggets were crispy, the fish cake was tasty, and it was a simple, satisfying meal that felt just right for a daytime seaside stop.
The location can’t be beaten, right near the harbour, so you can grab your food and enjoy it outside with views, or make a day of exploring Queenscliff before or after your meal. Even as a takeaway spot, the food quality felt nice for the price, and it’s a fun, relaxed place to enjoy classic fish and chips near the water.
Nearly $70 and the chips and potato cakes had absolutely zero flavour and just weirdly bland. Potato cakes needed more crisp and flavour, and the chips needed any kind of flavour. The fish was pretty good. With a location and pricing like this, you expect great fish & chips… but it was average at most. 🙁
Fish was fresh but overall cleaniness of the shop could be improved.
