About
Nick’s Take Away is a well-established fish and chip shop in Wodonga that keeps things simple and does it well. Takeaway only, with no bookings required, it suits everything from a quick solo lunch to feeding a hungry family on a weeknight. The accessible entrance and on-site parking make dropping in straightforward.
Flake is a clear favourite here, and regulars speak highly of the batter and the consistency of the cook. Chips come out fresh, and the shop is known for turning orders around at a pace that suits the casual drop-in crowd. Burgers also get a mention, with families finding the whole spread good value for money. The staff have a reputation for being friendly and easy to deal with.
Pricing has drawn the odd comment, with some finding the flake and chip portions on the steeper side for a takeaway. That said, a family of six walking out well-fed for under thirty dollars tells its own story about what’s possible when ordering smart. The shop has been part of the Wodonga takeaway scene for some time, and that kind of staying power says something about what keeps people coming back.
Family-friendly and open for both lunch and dinner, Nick’s Take Away is a solid option for anyone after fish and chips in Wodonga. Phone ahead during busy dinner periods to keep wait times short.

Friendly staff, great place to order all takeaway including fish and chips.
Great value for money.
Always cooked to perfection.
Not a bad place at all. The burger was good, the chips were fresh. It’s right next to kids play area. Fed my family of 6 for under $30 so can’t complain at all.
Only issue, there was tomato and tomato sauce on my burger which i asked for BBQ and No tomato.
The fish and chips were pretty good but not for what we paid
Minimum chips $7
Flake $12
A little bit outrageous
Bought large chips $16 and 3 piece of flake $10.50/pc. The chips were okay but the fish was terrible. Batter looked good on the outside but it was soggy and raw on the inside. Fish was was not tasty at all. One of worst fish and chips I tasted. Too bad as service was pretty okay.
I was pleasantly surprised by this little shop. I was concerned as to how quick the food was cooked but when we had the flake and chips with a crab stick I was very pleasantly surprised.
But the one thing If I could ask that maybe a single snack pack for 1 person with a bit of fish calamari prawn etc.
Best quality fish and chips in town. Has been here for a long time and always cooked to perfection. Pleasant staff and service. Thankyou.
Menu prices on internet are way out of date. Ended up costing nearly twice as much as prices shown on the internet. Take-away printed menus not available for future reference
Dim Sums were barely warm and chips not much hotter, which was very disappointing. Both dim Sums and chips seemed under-cooked. Only the fish was hot, but rather greasy.
Was at least 10 minutes longer than quoted time.
Value for meal – 1 Star
Didn’t get my pieces of lemon, burnt batter on my 2 pieces of flake,if you can call it batter
