The food was nice. I don’t know why you have to pay $1.50 surcharge to use your card for purchases under $20. Pretty sure this was made that illegal 6 months ago.
I asked for a fork but they only had spoons

Just ate fish n chips with curry sauce. We have been trying various chippy’s around Canning Vale and this one beats them all hands down. Chips good, fish was delicious and the curry sauce had a lovely consistency. We Will be making this the local. Marvellous 👍

Delicious food; fresh, batter was good. King George Whiting and Snapper were delicious. Good prices and good serving.

Great suburban fish shop. Nothing special just good fish and chips that’s cooked well, not dripping with oil and reasonably priced.

We are so late to the party.

We found this chippy through doordash and after reading the online reviews.. i am really glad we chose to try it.

The batter on the snapper was lovely … my partner loved the mussels … and i enjoyed the kiwi dog.

Order the curry sauce too if you like the katsu flavour curry .. Love Love Love ❤️ 😍

Forgot to take a pic but will do next time!

We will be return customers 😀

    Ashburton Fish & Chip Shop

For two years I have been a regular customer at this shop, consistently spending my money here. During that entire time, I noticed an Australian Indigenous artwork partially hidden behind a broken freezer — only a quarter of the painting visible. I always wondered why a cultural artwork was displayed in such a disrespectful and tokenistic way.

Today, I finally asked about it. Instead of receiving a simple explanation, I was met with behaviour that was unprofessional, dismissive, and culturally unsafe.

A staff member interrupted me mid‑sentence, spoke over me, and used tone and body language that conveyed hostility and racial disrespect. Rather than de‑escalating or addressing my concern, the shopkeepers allowed this behaviour and joined in, raising their voices and attempting to gaslight me about what I had experienced.

This is a clear breach of basic customer‑service standards and contradicts any code of conduct expected of a business serving the public. If a business chooses to display Indigenous artwork — even partially — it carries a responsibility to treat that culture, and the people connected to it, with respect. Tokenistic use of cultural symbols to “tick boxes” while treating Aboriginal customers with disrespect is unacceptable.

I left feeling disrespected, unheard, and deeply disappointed. After years of loyalty, this experience has shown me that cultural safety and respectful treatment are not valued here.
