About
Huntingdale Village Fish and Chips is a takeaway shop in Huntingdale, Western Australia, serving lunch and dinner daily. The venue is wheelchair accessible with free parking on site, and a kids’ menu makes it a practical stop for families passing through the area.
The menu includes fish, chips, squid rings, potato scallops, and dagwood dogs. On the convenience side, the shop is straightforward to access and suited to a quick meal without a lot of fuss.
That said, the shop has attracted a fair share of criticism from locals. Recurring concerns include undercooked chips, small fish portions, and inconsistency across orders. Squid and potato scallops have both drawn complaints about preparation, and portion size has come up more than once as a point of disappointment. For those nearby and keen to try it, phoning ahead and specifying preferences may improve the result.

I ordered fish and chips and potato scallops. Wrong decision. The potato scallops were not cooked properly and had a half cooked texture. The fish was still partly cold and was definitely not cooked properly. Everything was very oily suggesting that they weren’t done at the right temperature. My order was done very quickly which surprised me. Would never go there again. Poor quality food.
Thursday night 5/11 was the worst fish and chips from this shop ever. We were told 10 mins till ready…No wonder the order wasnt cooked.
Supposed Snapper pieces were tiny, the chips raw, the batter on the squid rings and tiny tiny potato scallops uncooked and the overall colour of meal was a wishy washy yellow colour not a nice crisp brown. When we rang to order, the child on the phone didnt ask for a name, phone # and I had to repeat myself 4 times. This is fish folks, you need to cook it properly otherwise we will get ill. Not coming back.
So many bad experiences. Chips always undercooked, repeatedly ask for them well done and as crunchy as possible, never happens. They have no idea how to cook squid. On one occasion ordered a 2 serve of fish deal, asked to have the fish upgraded to duh fish. Paid a handsome surcharge to receive just one fillet of (possibly) duh fish, medium size at best. Rang to question and they defended themselves saying that’s how it was. I live 30 seconds across the road from this shop and I drive to Ashburton when I want fish and chips.
Disgusting, fish was small portion and paper thin.
Dagwood dog was a disgrace, photo to show what a joke it was
Will never get food from here again
For $96 regretfully we will not be returning. The fish was stale, the batter was like rubber. Use to go there when the son was there but it seems that it has deteriorated tremendously 😞
Rang at 7.30pm, and told closing in 10 mins. I asked for a receipt, as high price, it wasn’t itemised, so asked for another receipt..Then was told I was over charged so got some money back..mmm still sus. Also was told cash only. Very dodgy, and food not good. I won’t go back. Oh and sus.. on the itemised receipt chicken nuggets are listed as squid rings..I asked, but apparently that is normal. Wowww..sooo dodgy.. No tax? Cash only? 10 yr old just told me chicken nuggets tasted funky..her words, and would only give 0% rating. Always get a receipt, and ask for your money back. Let’s see how I go.. I’ll let you know.
had a pretty frustrating experience. First off, I tried to order and was told it was cash only—which caught me off guard because there were no signs anywhere saying that. Had to drive all the way back home just to get cash. Bit of a hassle.
Came back, finally ordered fish and chips and asked if they put lemon inside. The girl at the counter said, “Yeah, it’s in there.” Got home, opened it up—no lemon at all. Just disappointing, especially after going out of my way twice.
It is usually really good but tonight I went in looked at menu then went outside to confirm with my husband what he wanted went back inside and the guy serving goes oooh we r closed , told him I was just in here just popped outside to see what my husband wanted he didn’t care and he was still cooking so I will now never go back really bad and rude I believe
