About
Waterford Fish & Chips is a well-rated fish and chip shop in Karawara, Western Australia, with a solid following built on generous portions and genuinely attentive service. The signature dish is shark and chips, a draw for regulars who rate it among the best they’ve had. The batter style is a talking point in its own right, thinner than the usual pub-style coating but full of flavour and not at all greasy, applied to thick cuts of fish cooked to order.
Beyond the shark, the menu covers hake and chips, dim sims, potato scallops, pineapple fritters, crab sticks, and a chips-only option for the kids. The family-friendly setup makes it a practical choice for a weeknight dinner, and the shop handles both dine-in and takeaway. Delivery is available through Uber Eats, handy for anyone in the wider Perth area who can’t make the trip in person. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entry add to the accessibility of the venue.
Service gets a mention from nearly everyone who talks about the place. Staff are praised consistently as warm and helpful, which goes some way to softening any wait. There can be a queue during peak periods, so ordering ahead or arriving early is sensible. Value for money also comes up often, particularly given the portion sizes on offer.
The shop opens for dinner most days, with lunch available on weekends. Phone ahead during the dinner rush if you’re planning a larger order.

Used to be a great fish and chips but gone down hill since under new management. Paid nearly $91.00 for 2 seafood platters. Owner tried to charge me $110.00 until I questioned him. Fish was waiver thin and when I pulled it apart you couldn’t even see or taste it with the thick batter. Squids were falling apart and chips looked burnt. And to be totally honest food wasn’t even hot. Oil needs to be changed more regularly. Everything was over cooked and looked burnt. Noticed lots of food already cooked on the racks above. Won’t be going back. We literally binned most of the food. Terrible. 😢
The fish is disgusting, plus the oily breading. The fish flies out of the oily breading and is so small, it’s a scam Paying for this tiny oily fish .
Always cooked to perfection
Edit: unfortunately the last three times I’ve been here the food has been quite poor, either undercooked or soggy. Tonight the fish and chips were burnt and overcooked yet tasted stale. I wasn’t able to eat my food due to this and won’t risk being let down again, they’ve lost a customer.
This used to be our favourite fish and chip shop, but now the quality of the food has gone downhill and the price has gone up. Most of our chips were burnt & soggy and the pineapple fritter and fish didn’t taste good because it was very oily. We sadly won’t be returning. Disappointing 🙁
There are no tables and no atmosphere , it is take away fish and chips.
We love shark and that was the BEST shark we have ever eaten. The batter was quite different to normal batter BUT it was very tasty, very thin and not at all oily.
Well done, loved it, thank you.
I thought I’d leave a positive review as we had a good experience here.
This was delivered via Uber Eats whilst we relaxed at South Perth foreshore. Chips were crisp and fluffy inside and fish batter was crispy and not too oily. Fish itself was chunky and tasted great.
Meal came in a cardboard box which I feel helped preserve it well without turning soggy during transit. Will order again! Thanks
Ordered regular fish n chips, grilled, with chicken salt and some pineapple fritters but unfortunately the chicken salt was either missed or out of stock, which degraded the meal pretty significantly. The chips were pretty ok, not really soggy, pretty crispy and not overcooked. The fish itself was a bit on the soggy side and the seasoning was there but could be better. I did like the packaging of the little fish container and the chips container being separated. Pineapple fritters was nice but its hard to go wrong with pineapple fritters. Meal was overall pretty meh. Also, its nice that they were open on Christmas day.
Thin beautiful batter with thick pieces of fish cooked to perfection.. lovely staff . I now drive 20 mins for their fish and chips
Highly recommend
