Fish and Chip Shops in Australia

Top Fish & Chip Shops in Page, QLD

Queensland carries hundreds of fish and chip shops, spread across many suburbs and towns, and a very large body of customer reviews sits behind them. Taken together the state comes out well rated, with several shops rating especially highly and several rating poorly, so it pays to read the individual entries rather than assume.

Nearly all of these shops do dine-in, nearly all are recorded as family friendly, and about half offer delivery. Gluten free menus, halal kitchens and BYO are each noted at a small number of them.

Barramundi and calamari turn up widely on Queensland menus. Cod, snapper, flake and whiting appear at several shops, with prawns and hoki occasionally. On the fryer side, potato scallops and burgers are widespread, dim sims and battered savs show up at several shops, and chiko rolls, spring rolls, fish cakes and potato cakes appear occasionally. Traditional Aussie is the dominant style, with multi-cuisine, modern and Asian fusion kitchens at several shops and Italian-Aussie and Greek-Aussie occasionally. Batter is split fairly evenly between light and crispy, traditional thick and tempura.

Across the shop menus here that we could collect and price, surveyed in May 2026, plain chips sat around $6, a single piece of fish around $14, and a typical main around $14, with mains ranging from $10 up to $34.

Charis Seafoods at Labrador is well rated for its battered fish and chips, light and crispy batter, and John Dory, calamari and prawns. Maddigan's Seafood at Torquay is strongly rated, known for flake and fish bites, and praised for value. Costa's Seafood Cafe at Capalaba is very strongly rated, with salt and pepper squid, oysters Kilpatrick and a long list of reef fish.
