I prefer a specific order of flake, scallops and potato cakes. I LURVE what they cook and they are my go to fish and chip place. Nothing else will do. Never had an order or service issue and I have been going there through several owners.
I have now moved to another state and miss Lalor Plaza’s fish and chips unbelievably. I have not been able yet to find an outlet that even comes close. Miss them
ORIGINAL – Old school fish and chips the way they used to be! So many get the chip TYPE wrong these days, but this place has nailed it. Had a snack pack and it was amazing. Chips cooked perfectly, not over oil or dry (crispy outer with a fluffy centre), and potato cakes and dim sims were the way they used to be cooked back in the day. Quality job guys, 👍🏻 keep it up
Owner is not nice and he is too arrogant and rude. He doesn’t know that if someone is talking to him politely, he should answer same way not start shouting. I bought fish flakes from this shop yesterday night. Instead of fish flakes, he gave me pack of chips, one small piece of fish flakes and one potato cake. When I went to return it and told him that it is wrong order, he was not ready to accept his mistak Instead he was telling me that my English is weak .I did not even ask for refund. I will never recommend this place to anyone.👎👎
Very good chips (and plenty of them), decent flake and good scallops. Short wait time, no hassles. Good, old-fashioned fish and chip shop.
I don’t often like to leave reviews however I feel for feedback purposes I need to leave this one. The flake and potato cakes we purchased were terrible. Chips were good.
Flake was extremely rubbery. It was hard to cut through it and it wasn’t pleasant to eat. It also has a hard black vein running through it which I had to eat around but ended up throwing the fish out.
The potato cakes were hard, so much batter, little potato and not tasty at all.
I’ve noticed other reviews about rubbery flake so this may be a supply issue & something to improve on.
Service was good
Smallest piece of flake I have ever had not consistent with others times , rang the owner to let him know . His response – well that’s the size of our fish . Potato cakes well below average chips were really good though . Won’t be going back and do not recommend .
They do a good Burger and chips here,they have good consistancy and they are very fast,prices are reasonable also,compared to a lot of chippies they dont take there potato cakes out of a box,frequent here often
