About
Thomastown Fish & Chippery is a family-run takeaway serving traditional fish and chips to the Thomastown community. The shop is open for lunch and dinner, with both takeaway and delivery available, and free parking on the street and in the adjoining lot makes popping in an easy option.
The menu centres on the classics. Fish and chips are the main draw, and regulars note the serves are generous, with chip portions that are more than enough for one sitting. Potato cakes also feature, and the burgers with the lot have earned their own following among locals who come back time and again. Coffee is available for those wanting something quick alongside their order.

I think their burgers with the lot are nice and $4 of chips is more than I can eat. Plus they’ve given me two potato cakes because they were a little small so they’ve done the right thing by me which is more than most takeaways in the Thomastown/Campbellfield area. I’ve never found them to be busy either – always just straight in to order and never waiting.
I got fish and chips as it tastes good.I pre-ordered and picked my order.
But today while I was waiting for my order, saw the guy from the shop pricking his nose and bitting his nails.
The kitchen also looks grimy and unhygienic.
I have discarded my food..🤮
Pretty sure this place gave me food poisoning as a few other reviews mentioned getting sick after eating here, and I was vomiting within a few hours me getting dinner from here.
There was nothing else I had ate that was out of the ordinary and I’ve been fine ever since, but I’ve stopped going here out of caution. The food itself tasted nice, but at a high price so be warned.
Two stars for the slight benefit of the doubt, but it’s very likely this was what made me sick.
Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, wish I had read the reviews before going. You can taste the bad oil, fish was soggy with way too much batter, chips undercooked. Went back to give the owner some feedback and didn’t seem to care. Will not go back here! Save your money, get food elsewhere!
always amazing food, 1 star is for the service. The main guy is beyond rude and so unapproachable. We come here regularly and have never had a pleasant expirience with him.
Always great service and warm.welcome. and great fish and chips , also fast service.
Excellent traditional fish and chips every time. Been coming back for years.
One of our favourite local spots for fish and chips. The family who run this store are lovely and the food is consistently good too
